Fashion. Fashion week returns to celebrate the city's restart

From 21 to 27 September, over 201 events on the calendar including fashion shows and events

Milan, September 20 2021 – After the success of the Supersalone, fashion is also back in the city. The Milan Fashion Week Women's collection will be held from 21 to 27 September 2021, which marks the return to physical events with a calendar of 65 fashion shows, 43 in person and 22 digital; 98 presentations (77 in person and 21 digital) and 38 events (34 in person and 4 digital) for a total of 201 appointments on the calendar (154 in person and 47 digital).

Fashion week will be celebrated on Wednesday 22 September with representatives of the municipal administration and the President of the National Chamber of Italian Fashion who will launch the new CNMI institutional event dedicated to sustainability: "CNMI Sustainable fashion awards", the ceremony which will take place in 2022 and it will be an opportunity to continue to reward those who have distinguished themselves in the application of sustainability principles in the fashion industry. Many events enrich the calendar, including the exhibition for the 40th anniversary of the birth of the Emporio Armani brand, the event for the 20th anniversary of the Nudo collection by Pomellato, the celebration of 50 years of Chiara Boni's career and the 60th anniversary of the Marcolin brand.

This edition of the Milan Fashion week, organized in collaboration with the Municipality of Milan, Confartigianato Imprese and with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and ICE-Agenzia, marks the return to the creation of physical events in person that will take place in compliance with all current anti-Covid-19 regulations.

To enrich the calendar of fashion shows and events organized by the individual brands, CNMI has created a series of projects that underline the multifaceted commitment of the association with respect to different themes, aimed at strengthening and evolving the Italian fashion system in an innovative and dynamic way . We start with "Inclusive backstage", a training project created in collaboration with Wella professionals, official partner of Milan Fashion week, and Show division, global leader in backstage artistic support and expert in high-level training aimed at professional hairstylists. On 19 and 20 September the Show division trainers will offer some selected Wella hairstylists specific training to learn how to take care of all types of hair with a focus on afro hair.

As it reaches its third edition, “Black lives matter in Italian fashion” is the project resulting from the collaboration between CNMI and BLACK LIVES MATTER IN ITALIAN FASHION-COLLECTIVE which will offer 5 new BIPOC (Black indigenous people of color) talents the opportunity to present their own collections within a digital fashion show that will open the Milan Fashion week.

Both initiatives will be hosted within the CNMI Fashion hub, open to the public from 21 to 27 September from 9 to 30 at the Museo della Permanente in Via Filippo Turati 19.

Even during this edition of Milan Fashion Week, great attention continues to be paid to emerging talents. Now in its seventh edition, Milano Moda graduate, an event dedicated to the excellence of Italian fashion schools, returns with a fashion show scheduled for September 26th at 16:00 pm. The nine finalists of the initiative will present their collections in front of an international jury made up of entrepreneurs, journalists and buyers who will vote on the collections and decide the winner.

The Milan Fashion Week events will be amplified throughout the world thanks to international partners: Kommersant publishing house for Russia; Tencent video, for mainland China (excluding Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan) and The Asahi Shimbun, for Japan.

While the Italian OOH streaming partner, Urban vision, will broadcast them in Milan, through a giant screen positioned in Piazza San Babila, a strategic point of the city. Always with a view to supporting young talents, CNMI has started a process in this sense also for the selection of young photographers for the communication campaign. For this edition of Milan Fashion Week Women's collection, the National Chamber of Italian Fashion in collaboration with the Municipality of Milan and YesMilano has created a campaign, which from 13 to 27 September will be broadcast throughout the city through posters and screens.
