Tajani: “An edition that will help educate creativity and a taste for beauty”

Milan, July 22 2019 – The eleventh edition of Vogue for Milan will be held on September 12th, previously known as Vogue Fashion's Night out, the event organized by Vogue Italia with the patronage of the Municipality of Milan which celebrates and reinforces the centrality of Milan as the capital and ambassador of Made in Italy fashion. The contents of the event were illustrated by Emanuele Farneti and the councilor for Labor Policies, Productive Activities, Fashion and Design Cristina Tajani during the press conference held this morning at Palazzo Morando in via Sant'Andrea.

Words, music and emotions will be the great protagonists of this edition in which poets and musicians, artists, cheerleaders will give life to the Vogue Italia Street party, livening up the streets of the center and involving the public with special poetry slam performances, freestyle battles and with a series of interactive initiatives, accompanying him until the highlight of the evening: the musical performance in Piazza del Duomo.

“This year too, the collaboration between Milan and Vogue Italia is renewed for an event that has now rightfully entered the city's calendar of events”. Thus the Councilor for Labor Policies, Productive Activities, Commerce, Fashion and Design Cristina Tajani, who adds: “Vogue for Milan has stopped being a customary event to increasingly become an opportunity thanks to which to bring the general public closer and especially young people to new languages of expression and creativity, from photography to art through music. With this in mind we have chosen to allocate the proceeds of this evening to finance the purchase of a piano and some stage systems to give the children of Quarto Oggiaro the opportunity to approach creativity from an early age through music or theatre, thanks to the courses held by associations active in the neighbourhood. We are convinced that education about beauty should always be part of the growth paths of our young people, who will return in value, ability, intelligence, in finding the best development for the city".

“In recent years, the world of fashion is asking itself how to become more democratic and inclusive. But if there is an event that, since its birth, aims to open the doors of our world to the general public, it is Vogue For Milano. This is why it is more relevant than ever,” says Vogue Italia director Emanuele Farneti. “So today Vogue For Milano does not leave, but rather doubles: becoming a big party for the city, as well as a free concert in Piazza del Duomo. A celebration made of words, music, emotions."

Vogue for Milan is based on a charitable vocation to support the city of Milan. The brands participating in the initiative will create limited edition objects whose proceeds will be donated to support two projects for the children and teenagers of Quarto Oggiaro. The first is the music festival “Waiting for Christmas” which will consist of free musical events that will take place at Villa Scheibler. The project aims to enhance the Villa as a cultural hub and to promote musical culture in the neighborhood also through the organization of music courses for children and the purchase of a piano. The second project “Teatrando al Bonola” consists of making the Enzo Baldoni auditorium a multifunctional space, promoting a theatrical vocation which to date cannot be sustained due to a lack of adequate equipment. A theatrical review will then be held to bring families and children closer to the theatre.

Last year the proceeds were allocated to the Higher School of Applied Arts of the Castello Sforzesco of the City of Milan, a crossroads of knowledge for 136 years and where traditions are combined with the most innovative contemporary experiments, while in the editions preceding the redevelopment of the outskirts of the city, to the restoration of green areas and public places - in particular in Lorenteggio, Barona and Quarto Oggiaro - to local charitable activities but also in favor of the Emilia Romagna region hit by the 2012 earthquake, to the Monzino Institute to contribute to research on diseases cardiovascular systems and the Meyer pediatric hospital in Florence.

Vogue for Milan is also created thanks to the support and collaboration of traders' associations. The brands and city boutiques in the city center and fashion quadrilateral areas will join the initiative, including: Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, Piazza San Babila, Via Montenapoleone and via S. Andrea.
