Tajani: “A great opportunity for many young people to discover the many professions and professional growth opportunities offered by the Italian fashion system”

Milan, October 17 2019 – From 27 to 30 October Fashion Graduate Italia, the event to discover the professions, schools and academies of fashion between fashion shows, workshops, meetings and activities that respond to the most current issues in the fashion sector: from the challenge of sustainability as responsible innovation to the revaluation of artisan professions, up to fashion strategies and new forms of communication.

To illustrate, this morning at Palazzo Marino, the contents and program of the event now in its third edition, the councilor for Labor Policies, Productive Activities, Commerce, Fashion and Design Cristina Tajani with Claudio Marenzi, President of Confindustria Moda, Giulia Pirovano, President of the Fashion Training System Platform and Matteo Casagrande, Head of Business Development at Intesa Sanpaolo

“As an Administration we have believed in and supported Fashion Graduate Italia since its first edition, in the belief that events of this kind are fundamental for enhancing the entire Italian fashion system, supporting companies with the main training centers in the fashion sector with shared objective of cultivating, developing and enhancing the many young talents. Indispensable resources to compete on quality and pass on the great cultural, creative, technical and industrial heritage of Made in Italy". Thus councilor Cristina Tajani, who continues: “Focusing on the training and creativity of young people, be they new stylists or young workers, can and must represent the distinctive element of Italian style. A production process can be replicated anywhere in a globalized context, the culture, tradition and artisan expertise that creates our products certainly cannot be replicated. It is precisely these intangible skills that we have the obligation to pass on to the new generations and Fashion Graduate Italia best represents this work".

“Fashion - comments Claudio Marenzi, President of Confindustria Moda - is characterized by the intrinsic need to generate beauty, which is expressed in two fundamental capacities: that of surprising through the creativity of the products and that of innovating the processes to always guarantee greater quality of what is produced. Both aspects need to be supported by brilliant minds with fresh ideas. This means that young people in this sector must play a leading role: without the inclusion in our companies of valid young creatives and young technicians capable of innovating products and processes, the Italian fashion system, which is worth over 95 billion euros year, it becomes impoverished and declines. Precisely for this reason it is important for Confindustria Moda to support events such as Fashion Graduate Italia, which brings the topic of training young people in the sector's professions to the center of the debate. We want to communicate to young talents that our companies offer them a world full of professional opportunities in one of the sectors that par excellence make Italy a global excellence".

For Giulia Pirovano, President of the Fashion Training System Platform: “Fashion Graduate Italia is confirmed as one of the central objectives of the Fashion Training System Platform, which one year after the position of president and with the help and precious support of all the schools and academies participants, has also allowed us to work on the development of crucial projects for the sector and for our students, ranging from the mapping of professions in fashion, to the acceleration of creative, productive and commercial processes, as well as the monitoring of market developments. The projects that will see the light in the coming months and which see the important commitment of the entire Platform are aimed at broadening our gaze towards international horizons, based on the cultural heritage and entrepreneurial fabric that distinguishes our country".

The key event of FGI 2019 will be Monday 28 October, dedicated to the theme of sustainability, developed around the collective fashion show in which 16 schools  (Brera Academy of Fine Arts - Accademia Costume & Moda - Accademia della Moda IUAD - AFOL Moda - Arsutoria School - CERCAL - Domus Academy - Ferrari Fashion School - Harim Accademia Euromediterranea - IAAD - Istituto di Moda Burgo - Istituto Europeo di Design - Istituto Marangoni - Istituto Modartech - Istituto Secoli - LABA Libera Accademia di Belle Arti - NABA Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti - Next Fashion School - Politecnico Calzaturiero) will present their students' projects by addressing the complex topic of environmental and social sustainability in different ways. This event represents the activation of responsible innovation - promoted by the students themselves - and an instance that the schools associated with Piattaforma Sistema Formativo Moda have integrated into the training courses for new generations of professionals capable of innovating the fashion industry. Among the important innovations of this edition is the partnership activated between Fashion Graduate Italia and Fashion Film Festival Milan with the presence of its founder Constanza Cavalli Etro.
