Milan, March 31 2021 - Work on the construction of the underground car park in Via Borgogna will resume on 2 April.

The revised final project was approved in August and in recent days the executive also received approval. The duration of the works is 27 months with completion in July 2023, but the surface improvement will take place before the opening of the car park to allow the area to be returned to citizens at the same time as the completion of the M4 works in the first quarter of 2023.

The car park has four underground floors with a capacity of 236 private parking spaces, 89 public spaces and 23 motorbikes.

The superficial development has been integrated with the redevelopment which will follow the closure of the construction sites for the construction of the M4 planned along the Piazza San Babila-Corso Europa-Largo Augusto axis, already presented publicly, and includes taxi parking and a double parking in Via Borgogna. direction of travel up to Largo Toscanini and the possibility of access to Corso Europa only for public transport and taxis.

The reorganization of the area includes a new pavement in national granite cubes laid in parallel and level rows in continuity between Piazza San Babila, Largo Toscanini and then Corso Europa, Largo Bersaglieri, Verziere up to Largo Augusto: a great urban mending made of details monochromatic which will highlight monuments, fountains, new green areas and trees, enhancing the pedestrian area and creating one of the most central promenades in the city.

In the first phase, the construction site will occupy about half of via Borgogna to the north along its entire length, from Largo Toscanini to via Visconti di Modrone, and subsequently a second half, on the south side. There are also transparent construction site exits to give visibility between the two sides of the road and the affixing of explanatory renderings on the project under construction. 

The road system during the construction site will always be maintained in the direction towards via Visconti di Modrone and in the intersections with via Cino del Duca and via Ronchetti as it is today. Part of the parking will be maintained to guarantee disabled stalls and loading and unloading of goods, while some resident stalls in via Durini will be recovered.
