Mobility. Develop the charging network for electric vehicles in interchange car parks and in strategic places

The Municipality of Milan participates in the Lombardy Region tender

Milan, May 24 2021 – The Municipality of Milan participates in the Lombardy Region tender for the development of the electric charging infrastructure network and in particular to install charging points in the interchange car parks and at a cooking center of Milan Ristorazione.

Participation in the regional tender allows for the opening of a new line of development of electrical infrastructure in Milan, encouraging the replacement of motorized fleets towards more sustainable vehicles and reducing the pollution produced by diesel vehicles.

"Among Milan's objectives for improving air quality – declares Marco Granelli, Councilor for Mobility – is to encourage the replacement of the vehicle fleet towards more sustainable and also electric mobility. For this reason we are committed to developing the network of charging points both for private vehicles in strategic places and for those for public use, such as the fleet that brings meals to school canteens. This is why we have joined the Lombardy Region tender".

The maximum contribution foreseen for the new recharging devices for electric vehicles in the interchange car parks is around 88.000 euros and that for the purchase and installation of the devices for public vehicles used to transport the meals prepared by Milano Ristorazione is 150.000 euros .

Currently, the existing electric charging network in the city is made up of 40 columns and 28 digital islands for a total of around 300 charging points. The placement of 114 additional charging points has already been approved by the Services Conference. To these will be added (to be approved on 16 June) another 56 points.

Furthermore, again to give impetus to the development of electric charging infrastructure, the Air Regulation - recently approved by the City Council - establishes the obligation for all fuel sales points to equip themselves with electric charging infrastructure. Existing distributors must present the project by 1 January 2022 and the installation of the columns must take place within 12 months following its presentation. In case of technical impossibility, the column must be built in a public area other than the fuel distribution plant grounds by 1 January 2023.
