Mobility. M1 and M5 extensions, Granelli: "Satisfied with the financing of the Cinisello-Monza Bettola hub"

Milan, 11 December 2019 - "We are satisfied with the inclusion in the Budget Law of the resources necessary to strengthen the interchange hub between the M1 and the M5 in Cinisello Balsamo - Monza Bettola, as we had asked the Government together with the Lombardy Region".
Thus the Mobility Councilor of the Municipality of Milan Marco Granelli comments on the approval of an amendment in the Senate Budget Committee, which finances the expenditure for the completion of the M1-M5 metropolitan interchange hub of Cinisello, Monza Bettola.

“This is – continues Granelli – a work necessary for the Olympics but above all strategic to improve the quality of mobility in the Milan and Monza areas. We are extending the route of the two metro lines (M1 from Sesto FS to Cinisello Balsamo - Monza Bettola and  M5 from Bignami to Monza Brianza institutional hub)  which thanks to this hub will be connected to each other, with the private traffic of the A4 Milan-Venice , of the SS66 Milan-Lecco-Sondrio-Bormio, of the SP 46 Rho-Monza and with the railway system of the Milan-Monza hub".

"With this financing of 15 million euros, 8 million for 2020 and 7 million for 2021 – concludes the councilor -, the interchange structures and car parks will be better connected and strengthened and the most important hub in the north-east will be created in the Milan area. This is a very important strategic choice resulting from the collaboration between the Municipality of Milan, local authorities in the area, the metropolitan city, the Province of Monza and Brianza and the Lombardy Region. In this way we offer an adequate response to the demand for mobility generated by the densely urbanized and industrialized territory of the area north-east of Milan".
