Mobility. The notice for the city council for active mobility and accessibility has been published

Call for the identification of interested parties in forming the "Citizen Council for active mobility and accessibility" - The collection of applications is open until April 24th

Milan, January 24 2022 – The notice for the collection of applications for the city council for active mobility and accessibility has been published, created with the aim of making the comparison with associations systematic and contributing to the planning of interventions to support mobility.

Mobility represents in Milan, as in every urban area, one of the main factors that affect environmental quality, travel times, and the use and quality of public space. The Consulta, also requested by many associations in the area, was established precisely to start a constant dialogue with stakeholders and with those involved in mobility in the city and metropolitan area.

The Council will be made up of 15 members who will remain in office for four years from the date of appointment. Its composition must guarantee the presence of bodies, organisations, associations and groups operating in urban areas to facilitate active mobility and promote urban travel with methods and means alternative to motor vehicles. It must also include representatives of the categories that use the bicycle as a work tool. One of the members will be indicated by the "Consult of people with disabilities".

"The common objective – explains Mobility Councilor Arianna Censi – is to reduce the economic, social and environmental costs caused by traffic, given that almost half of the trips that take place every day in Milan concern short-medium range itineraries. Facilitate and encouraging the use of alternative means of transport to the car for these journeys means making urban mobility as a whole more efficient. Constant comparison will allow a broader analysis of the problems to arrive at the most effective solutions".

The call, originally open until February 21st, has been extended until April 24th. For how to submit applications, the notice is available on website of the Municipality of Milan.
