Mobility. New bike racks thanks to the collaboration between the Municipality and private individuals

"L'Italiano" participates in the Administration's tender and inaugurates 20 spaces between Piazza Cincinnato, via Felice Casati, via Piero della Francesca and viale Campania

Milan, June 11 2020 - The number of bicycle spaces in the city is growing. Thanks to the collaboration between the Administration and private individuals, four new racks for 20 seats were inaugurated today between Piazza Cincinnato, Via Felice Casati, Via Piero della Francesca and Viale Campania, near the hairdressing shops and "L'Italiano" restaurants.

The Milanese chain participated in the Municipality's tender which provides for the free concession of public land to private individuals who, at their own expense, decide to install bicycle racks, thus promoting the development of sustainable mobility and participating in a positive and concrete way in the life of the neighborhood in which they operate.

"I thank the owners of 'L'Italiano', we are very happy that they have taken up the opportunity offered by the Municipality - declares Marco Granelli, councilor for Mobility -. For us it is a sign that the idea of a more sustainable and light mobility in Milan gathers interest and consensus. Having a place to put your bicycle is a strong incentive to use it."

"We are happy to be able to offer our customers the opportunity to park their bikes correctly and safely, thus stimulating sustainable travel", declared Sebastiano Liso, one of the three owners of "L'Italiano".

In Milan there are 32 thousand stalls reserved for two-wheelers, some are equipped with racks and therefore not suitable for motorbikes, others are only marked on the ground and are also valid for motorbikes. More precisely, in the Cerchia dei navigli there are 4.300 stalls. Outside Municipality 1, along the cycle paths, the number of stalls is 3.350, in addition to the 6.900 near the metro stops. Since 2016, 3 thousand have been added, an increase work that continues also in relation to the increase in two-wheeled vehicles present in the city.
