Mobility. Sharing scooters, three companies revoked for irregularities

Milan, November 9 2020 – In recent days the Administration has notified three operators of shared electric scooters of the revocation of the authorization to carry out activities in the Milan area.

Since the beginning of the scooter sharing experiment, the Municipality has started constant monitoring of the vehicles made available to citizens and of compliance with the rules defined in the public notice: checks which are in addition to the regular sanctioning activity carried out by the local police for compliance of the rules of the Highway Code.

In the face of various findings of irregularities against the operators and the reiteration of behavior that does not comply with the rules defined in the public notices, it was necessary to arrive at this provision which requires the three operators to cease their activities and withdraw their vehicles by mid-November. In particular, anomalies were found on the speed and parking moderation system.

The sharing of scooters has been welcomed by citizens very favorably and has quickly and effectively integrated into urban 'sharing mobility'. Scooters allow agile and widespread travel, integrate with the public transport network and represent an innovative and sustainable system, but the elements in favor of the experimentation implemented by the Municipality of Milan do not ignore the safety of the vehicle and the regular use of the vehicle.
