Mobility. The Farini overpass is undergoing maintenance

Milan, 1 April 2020 – The work of laying the new jersey and maintenance of the lighting of the Farini flyover was carried out by the Nu.IR, the Rapid Intervention Unit of the Municipality of Milan. The intervention will now allow, with the closure of heavy traffic, the continuation of the extraordinary maintenance of the bridge by RFT (Ferrovie dello Stato), which began a few months ago.

From 6 July to 6 September 2020 the works will affect the surface of the bridge which will be completely closed to traffic during this period. The redevelopment includes the complete reconstruction of the tram tracks, paving and sidewalks.

“The arrangement and constant monitoring by the Administration of all 495 bridges and related overpasses and underpasses in Milan continues – recalls the Mobility Councilor Marco Granelli -. Numerous maintenance and improvement interventions were carried out in 2019."

Among these, regarding the 90 bridges under the exclusive responsibility of RFI, the works on the Viale Monza railway bridge, the paving of the Villapizzone underpass, the consolidation of the Viale Fulvio Testi railway bridge and the Viale Sarca railway bridge.

As regards the municipal heritage, maintenance work was carried out on the footbridge in Via Mosca, the underpasses in Via Campanella and Porta Nuova, the footbridge in Via Imperia and works to replace the expansion joints of all the buildings owned by the municipality. Work was also carried out on the walkways of via Agordat and via De Marchi, the vehicular bridges of via Licata, Marotta, Feltre, Monte Ceneri Serra, Prospero Finzi.

Finally, the brick cladding of the railway bridges was replaced, the maintenance of which, following the doubling of the Cadorna - Bovisa railway tracks, is the responsibility of the Municipality.

“In 2020 – concludes Granelli – we have been working for a few days on the via Imbonati flyover and now on the Farini flyover. The extraordinary maintenance, worth 12 million, will continue throughout the year."
