Mobility. From the Municipality incentives of up to 1.800 euros for the purchase of scooters and motorbikes with low environmental impact

In case of scrapping the contribution reaches 3 thousand euros; up to 1.500 euros for the purchase of e-bikes. Also help for cars and commercial vehicles

Milan, May 29 2020 – The Municipality launches a contribution plan for private individuals and businesses who want to replace or purchase new vehicles with low environmental impact with the aim of helping citizens improve the fleet of cars and motorbikes circulating in the city, containing polluting emissions and congestion.

The decision also responds to the need to make alternative forms of mobility available to citizens to the use of public transport, which is currently penalized by the need to maintain physical distancing between people even on trams, buses and subways due to the Covid-19 epidemic in progress. The contributions can be combined with the benefits granted by the State.

"We want to help citizens who have to use private vehicles for travel to do so with less polluting and lighter means - declares Marco Granelli, Councilor for Mobility -. Incentives are one of the paths we are taking to facilitate the replacement of the fleet vehicles circulating in Milan. Replacing an old diesel, buying a scooter or an electric bike will be easier and less expensive for all families and businesses, even in the third sector, and will allow us to contain the most polluting emissions in the city".

The incentives are intended for adult citizens and, for the first time, without ISEE limitations in order to allow everyone to access them. New categories have been included: the funds are intended for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, self-employed workers with a VAT number resident in Milan, third sector bodies and non-Milanese artisan businesses as long as they hold a license to carry out the sales activity in public areas issued by the Municipality of Milan.

Among the other innovations included in the new announcement being published is the possibility for private individuals to obtain a contribution of up to 1.800 euros for the purchase of scooters and 1.500 euros for hybrid or electric bikes, without the obligation to scrap them. The contribution for the scooter increases to 3 thousand euros in the event of scrapping or for those who have not owned a vehicle for at least four months.

To access contributions for the purchase of hybrid, electric, bi-fuel and petrol vehicles of Euro 6, private individuals must at the same time arrange for the cancellation for demolition of a vehicle for the transport of people specifically powered by petrol up to and including Euro 2 or diesel up to Euro 5 included. The contributions reach 6 thousand euros for the purchase of a hybrid car.

As regards businesses, it will be possible to access concessions to purchase up to five commercial vehicles or vehicles for the transport of people, from vans to trucks and from cars to coaches, Euro VI diesel only for trucks and coaches (N2, N3 and M3), Euro 6 petrol, LPG, methane, hybrid and electric. For example, in the case of replacing a van the contribution is between 6,6 thousand and 16.200 euros depending on the category and in the case of a truck the contribution reaches up to 21 thousand euros. Contributions are also provided for the purchase of hybrid or electric powered scooters and cargobikes.

The concessions for companies are granted to subjects who at the same time will demolish a vehicle of categories N1, N2, N3, M1, M2 and M3 powered by petrol up to and including Euro 2/II or diesel up to and including Euro 5/V , or a two-stroke motor vehicle or moped (classified as category L) up to Euro 2 or powered by diesel fuel up to Euro 2 or powered by four-stroke petrol Euro 0, 1).

The contributions will be available starting from the publication of the notice on the Municipality's website in the next few weeks and until the available funds are exhausted but in any case no later than 30 November 2020 and it will be possible to submit an application for the purchase of vehicles made starting from last 4 May. All incentives will be paid only once for a single vehicle in the case of private applicants and only once for up to five vehicles of your choice for each company.
