Mobility. The entry rules for Area B and Area C come into force on October 1st

Milan, September 29 2022 – From Saturday 1st October the entry rules into Area B and Area C come into force, which will actually come into effect starting from Monday 3rd October given that it is possible to circulate freely at the weekend.

Area B – Hours and limitations 

Area B is a limited traffic area monitored by 188 cameras, with access and circulation prohibited from Monday to Friday from 7am to 30pm (excluding holidays).

The driving bans in force from 1 October concern Euro 2 petrol cars, Euro 4 diesel cars without DPF, Euro 3 and 4 diesel cars with DPF as standard, Euro 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 diesel cars with after-market DPF installed by 31/12/2018 and with a particulate mass class equal to at least Euro 4, Euro 4 diesel, including bi-fuel, and Euro 5 diesel.

Area B - Exceptions

Euro 4 and 5 diesel vehicles and Euro 2 petrol-powered vehicles will be able to circulate in Area B by joining the integrated Move-In/Area B project.

The registered vehicle will be able to circulate freely in any time slot, up to a maximum limit of km/year established based on its type and environmental class, until 30 September 2024.

To date, 19.740 vehicles have participated in the Move-In/Area B program. Of these, over 19.000 are cars (1.002 Euro 2 petrol, 5.690 Euro 4 diesel and 12.439 Euro 5 diesel) and 609 Euro 4 diesel vans. For those who have applied for membership but have not yet managed to install the control system , it will be possible to use 50 entrances in derogation while waiting for activation.

As an alternative to Move-In, Euro 4 and 5 diesel vehicles and Euro 2 petrol-powered vehicles will be able to benefit from 50 days of access, even non-consecutive, in the period between the date of first access and the date of 30 September 2023.

Area C – Hours and limitations

Access restrictions in Area C are expected to come into force on 1st October for Euro 2 petrol, Euro 3 and 4 diesel passenger vehicles with FAP as standard, Euro 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4 diesel vehicles with After-market DPF installed by December 2018 and with an adjustment class (reported on the registration document) for the mass of particulates equal to at least Euro 4 and Euro 5 diesel.

The access and circulation ban is foreseen from Monday to Friday from 7 am to 30 pm (excluding holidays).
