Sustainable mobility. Sharing electric scooters, safety initiatives

European Mobility Week 2020 opens

Milan, September 16 2020 - Companies that offer shared electric scooters have dedicated some initiatives aimed at citizens to respecting the rules and safety on the streets.

From 11 September to 24 September seven stewards will monitor the streets of Milan daily, stopping people who do not respect the highway code and explaining the traffic regulations.
During the daytime the patrolled areas include the historic centre, from San Babila to Cairoli, while during the night hours (until midnight) the most patrolled areas include those of the "nightlife": Arco della Pace, Navigli/Ticinese, Corso Como/ Corso Garibaldi.

The activities carried out by stewards include:

- repositioning scooters parked incorrectly
- education on the correct use of the vehicle
- filling out a reporting form reporting the scooter's identification number, date, time, place, infringement detected (the forms will then be sent to the representatives of each company).

The data collected from the first 3 days of activity (11 September - 14 September) concern 420 infringements/reports mainly on passenger transport (2 people), driving on the pavement, irregular parking.

The safety initiative is then supported by various communication activities, including: information labels on the scooters of each operator in the city, with reference to the Amat website with the mobility week section and traffic regulations (graphic attached); social activities with dedicated photo/video service and sharing on each company's digital channels.
