Mobility. Shared trips, free parking and halved costs: Municipality and Bepooler together for the development of car pooling

Milan, June 12 2019 - Reduce the number of cars entering the city on working days and consequently improve air quality. This is the aim of the collaboration, presented today at Palazzo Marino, between the Municipality of Milan and BePooler, a platform for organizing shared trips that won the public tender for the car pooling service.

By downloading the BePooler app for free and subscribing to the service, citizens who reach Milan by car with at least one passenger on board will be able to park for free in the 48 spaces reserved for them by the Municipality of Milan. These are located within the car parks, managed by ATM, of Molino Dorino, Caterina da Forlì, Cascina Gobba, Famagosta and Rogoredo Santa Giulia, and are already equipped with special signs. The other structures affected are Quarto Oggiaro, Crescenzago and Maciachini. All reserved seats can be booked, free of charge, via the BePooler app.

By using BePooler, motorists will also have the possibility of at least halving the costs of the shared trip: Bepooler, in fact, will automatically reimburse at least half of the expenses incurred by the driver for the trip made. If there are more than one passengers, the costs for each will be even more convenient.

Shared parking at the interchange car parks will allow the creation of a concrete intermodal transport project thanks to the public-private partnership.

“With this project we are experimenting with a new front of shared and sustainable mobility, which this Administration has been aiming for since the beginning of its mandate – said Mobility Councilor Marco Granelli -. Every day tens of thousands of cars enter Milan, often carrying only the driver. Car pooling is a good habit which, thanks to technology, can become a widespread, convenient practice capable of contributing to improving air quality and reducing problems related to congestion. This is why we are convinced that it is useful to support it. Milan remains at the forefront in the development and promotion of more sustainable mobility for all."

“Intermodal transport - added Nicola Ciniero, President of BePooler - can also be maximized thanks to the new features of the platform currently being released, including “BePooler Taxi” which, in collaboration with Taxi Blu of Milan, will allow costs to be reduced individual for a single trip and at the same time expand the number of users of regulated private transport, which is also active with a hybrid fleet with minimal environmental impact".
