Mobility. Over 150 parking spaces for cars and motorbikes, a video-monitored parking station and a cycle path: the new Abbiategrasso M2 interchange car park opened today

The work, decided and financed by the Municipality, was designed and built by MM and will be managed by ATM. Granelli: "Important infrastructure for public transport, increasingly inspired by sustainability"

Milan, July 22 2019 - One hundred and fifty parking spaces, three reserved for people with disabilities, fifteen motorcycle spaces, a rack area with free access for 138 bikes and a velo station with 140 stalls. All connected with a cycle path that connects the existing branches of via Missaglia and via Dudovich to the M2.

These are the numbers of the new Abbiategrasso M2 interchange car park, a work decided and financed with six million euros by the Municipality of Milan, designed and built by MM and entrusted to the management of ATM, open and usable from today.

This is a long-awaited and strategic infrastructure for the neighborhood and for the city's mobility system, as it allows those who live outside Milan to leave their cars and enter the city by metro, preventing commuters' vehicles from occupying spaces dedicated to residents of the neighborhood and hosts the second city velo station, the first is located in the Comasina M3 car park, which promotes the interchange between bicycle and subway, improving theft prevention thanks to a video surveillance system.

The creation of advanced software is also planned for the autumn which will allow entry to be tracked and therefore further prevent damage and theft.

"With this new interchange car park - comments the councilor for Mobility and Environment Marco Granelli - after the expansion of Bisceglie with another 460 spaces, we are finally making an important new infrastructure available to citizens, commuters and the entire metropolitan area for our public transport system, which is increasingly inspired by sustainability. We aim to transform Milan into a city where public transport not only works but develops while respecting the environment."

The construction of the car park also allowed some improvements to the surrounding roads, following a discussion with the Municipality and with the citizens of the neighborhoods affected by the works, in addition to the planting of new plants near Via Missaglia and Boifava.
