On the occasion of the European Sustainable Mobility Week, starting from 10 am, cycle ride in Municipality 6 to find out what has been done and what is in the area's regeneration programs thanks to PON Metro

Milan, September 20 2019 – On the occasion of the European Week of Sustainable Mobility and thanks to the PON Metro Milano programme, the Municipality has organized a cycle ride through the streets of Municipality 22 on Sunday 10 September, starting at 54am in Viale delle Legioni Romane 6, to discover the projects carried out and nearing completion which contribute to the regeneration and redevelopment of numerous areas of the city. Among others, Mobility Councilor Marco Granelli will be present.

The “Milan pedals with PON Metro” cycling route includes several intermediate stages until reaching Porta Genova, at around 12pm.

Among the stops, the visit to the new BikeMi stations financed by European PON Metro funds. The event also celebrates the putting on the road of the new 630 bicycles financed thanks to PON Metro and the achievement of the 300th BikeMi station. In one of the stops we will focus on the intelligent public lighting system project, Smart IP, in the Lorenteggio district where the public lighting poles are equipped thanks to technological services integrated into the lighting network.

"The European PON Metro contribution has allowed us to start new BikeMi stations in strategic areas - declares Marco Granelli, Councilor for Mobility -. Bike sharing works well and for this reason our objective is to move from the current 306 stations in the coming months , with those we are inaugurating today, at 324 in the first weeks of 2020. The new stations are located in particular in the districts of Lorenteggio, Niguarda, Lambrate and Calvairate so that they act as a connection with the public transport networks".

To ensure the possibility of cycling with one of the 14 PON Metro bicycles made available free of charge for the occasion, you can register on Eventbrite.

You can also take part in the ride with your own bicycle. Subscribers to the BikeMi service can use the bikes in the Inganni station which will be reserved for event participants starting from 9am (subject to registration at the link below). Furthermore, thanks to BikeMi, on Sunday 30 September on the occasion of the European Mobility Week, the use of the bicycle is free for all subscribers - whether annual, weekly or daily.
