Milan, January 23 2021 – Following the order of the Minister of Health which places the Lombardy Region in the 'orange' zone starting from Sunday 24 January, the Municipality of Milan implements the 'Milan Pact for schools' through a specific order signed today by the mayor Giuseppe Sala.

The city's time plan, established together with the Prefecture of Milan and shared by all social partners, public institutions, transport managers, commerce, companies and professional associations, is designed to reorganize travel between 7am and 10 am, the most congested time slot on public transport, as highlighted by a study by the Polytechnic University of Milan.

In detail, the union ordinance prohibits, from 6 am to 10,15 am, the exercise of non-food retail commercial activities in a fixed location, both in neighborhood businesses and in medium and large sales structures, therefore including covered markets, shopping centres, galleries and retail parks. Newsstands and tobacconists, pharmacies and parapharmacies are excluded from this ban.
For activities relating to personal services, the ban runs from 6am to 9,30am.
Also starting from 9,30 am, public offices will be allowed to open (which must preferably operate by appointment). The offices of the Municipality of Milan that carry out contact activities with the public will open from 10am.

As regards the organization of work, the recommendation is for bodies and companies that provide services to the public (such as banking, finance and insurance) to organize their opening starting from 9,30 am and preferably by appointment.
Manufacturing activities are asked to commit to bringing the start time forward by 8 am.
Professionals and consultants are recommended to receive by appointment starting from 10am.
All employers are asked to encourage smart working, staggering the arrivals of staff on duty starting from 9,30 am.
