Milan Green Week. New green spaces in the city thanks to the seMiniAmo project

From the dog area in piazzale Accursio to the roundabouts of via Stephenson and via Ippodromo/Diomede, up to the new green area of via Giulio Natta. The Municipality assigns 40 new vegetable plots to Lampugnano

Milan, September 29 2019 – The new green areas of the seMiniAmo project are open to the city on the occasion of Milan Green Week: from the innovative redevelopment of the dog area in Piazzale Accursio to the three new green areas in the Lampugnano and Musocco districts.

After having taken care of the redevelopment of the gardens of Piazza Duca D'Aosta and Piazza della Scala, seMiniAmo, in partnership with the company "Abitare In", has broadened the typology of its interventions, innovatively renovating the dog area of Piazzale Accursio : for the first time in a space dedicated to animals, automatic drinkers have been installed to reduce water waste, a special underground irrigation system to guarantee its integrity and offer the best care of the new plants and 8 new trees have been planted and created a hedge frame. Furthermore, the roundabout in via Stephenson, the roundabout and flowerbeds in via Giulio Natta and the roundabout in via Ippodromo-Diomede were redeveloped through the planting of 41 new trees.

“seMiniamo is an important example of how collaboration between public and private is precious to make the city's neighborhoods more beautiful – declares the councilor for Urban Planning, Green and Agriculture Pierfrancesco Maran –. It is a project we are particularly keen on on the one hand because it combines the care of greenery with the involvement of people in difficulty, and on the other because it has a long-term perspective. In fact, between now and 2020, another 9 green areas will be redeveloped in as many neighborhoods of the city, one of the next ones will be a portion of Piazzale Susa".

To date “seMiniAmo” – Corporate Social Responsibility project, created by the communications agency Zack Goodman in collaboration with the Municipality of Milan (www.semini-amo.com) – has redeveloped a total of 6.500 m80 of greenery, positioned over 25 tall trees, sown 1.000 thousand seedlings, planted over 1.700 shrubs and 40 plants of 25 different species; on the social front, it involved over XNUMX people in the care and supervision of the green areas of the project.

“We are happy to support a unique project like 'seMiniAmo' – comments Marco Grillo, CEO of Abitare In – and return new green areas to the city of Milan, while supporting, at the same time, the integration of people in difficulty into the world of work. We immediately liked the mission of the project because the universe of values that underlies seMiniAmo is the same as Abitare In: sustainable development, urban regeneration, social inclusion and attention to citizens' needs guide the daily modus operandi of our society. Trilogy Towers, the latest project by Abitare In, will soon be built next to this garden, which together with the new US Consulate will contribute to enhancing an important and historic district of our splendid city such as Piazzale Accursio".

“I am proud that the Municipality of Milan has entrusted us with the ninth green area and, as for over two years now, we will continue to work to guarantee a more luxuriant nature, greater protection and innovative technologies to give the community a better city – he states Riccardo Belli, CEO of Zack Goodman –. The dog area in Piazzale Accursio is the first of the upcoming interventions that demonstrates how 'seMiniAmo' effectively and concretely satisfies the needs of citizens and beyond. Today, in fact, 'seMiniAmo' has more fans: our faithful four-legged friends. We are on the right side of the future and we are stronger because our values are shared by an ever-widening number of supporters. The journey continues."

On the afternoon of Sunday 29 September, again as part of Milan Green Week, the delivery ceremony of 40 new vegetable plots made available by Municipality 8 in via Lampugnano 105, between the Gallaratese and Trenno districts, was also held. The new gardens will be dedicated exclusively to organic crops and production waste will be recovered and transformed into compost thanks to a specific training course for the benefit of the assignees, promoted by the Municipality.
