Milan, September 24 2019 – The city is ready to go green for the second edition of Milan Green Week, the event within the Yes Milano schedule which from 26 to 29 September will bring initiatives, debates, workshops and new areas to experience in all the municipalities of the city. This year too there will be hundreds of widespread events organized by the Municipality of Milan and by the many public and private entities that contribute with commitment and passion to the care of the city's greenery. The event, coordinated by the Green Department together with MIAMI Scarl, manager of the public green maintenance service, is made possible by the collaboration of the technical sponsors Covivio and ENGIE Italia.
Adults and children are invited to participate and contribute to making the days of Milan Green Week even more beautiful: from the inauguration of the new inclusive playground in via Martinetti to the party for the start of work on a new shared garden created with students in via della Rondine, from the planting of new plants along the banks of the Lambro river as part of the Ersaf and Legambiente project to the Milano Clever Solutions conference to make citizens aware of the benefits of green roofs and walls, from the installation of the statue of Rachele Bianchi donated to the city at the inauguration of the new green areas of Piazzale Accursio and the redeveloped Russoli park, passing through the bicycle rides through the woods of Porto di Mare promoted by Italia Nostra, which has been working with commitment and wisdom since 2017 on the regeneration of Cassinis Park. And Milan Green Week naturally embraces the Plastic Free campaign promoted by the Municipality: in addition to cloth bags, pens, notepads and maps, for the first time during some events promoted by the Administration 1000 water bottles will be given away as gifts.
“Milan Green Week has become an unmissable appointment in the calendar of the many events that animate the city during the year – declares the Green Councilor Pierfrancesco Maran –. Attention to greenery and respect for the environment are increasingly important issues for the Administration and for the many citizens and associations that contribute to the care of the city. With this event full of widespread initiatives and inaugurations, we also want to enhance the collaboration between public and private, which thanks to the contracts promoted by the Administration allows us to have more beautiful parks, squares and green areas. Everyone's involvement will be an increasingly fundamental element in the coming years, which will see the creation of 20 new parks and 3 million new trees in the metropolitan city".
