Milan, May 13 2021 – Twenty seats of various sizes in front of two commemorative glass steles bearing quotes by Primo Levi and Vittorio Foa.   

It is the new look of the Loggia dei Mercanti, inaugurated today in the presence of the Mayor of Milan Giuseppe Sala, the President of ANPI Milan Roberto Cenati and the architect Antonio Boeri, according to the "Milan for the Resistance" project, donated to the Municipality by the ANPI - Provincial Committee of Milan and signed by Studio Stefano Boeri Architetti.

This brings to completion a process of redevelopment of the Loggia which began in 2014 with the installation of a first stele and developed with the Milano è memoria platform, to which today two new commemorative steles in laminated glass and a ballasted base of 160 x 40 centimeters have been added. , on which two sentences are inscribed, by Primo Levi and Vittorio Foa:

"We need to be wary of those who try to convince us with tools other than reason, i.e. charismatic leaders: we must be cautious in delegating our judgment and our will to others. It is better to renounce revealed truths, even if they exalt us for their simplicity. It is better to settle for other more modest and less exciting truths, those that are achieved with difficulty, little by little and without shortcuts, with study, discussion and reasoning, and which can be verified and demonstrated".

"Today, for me, one is anti-fascist when one respects the other, when one does not pretend to destroy him or even to assimilate him, that is, to reduce his thought, his identity, to our thought, to our identity. Antifascism is, for me, the anxiety to intervene against injustice, whether small or large, to intervene against every threat to freedom".

The twenty gneiss seats of different sizes are placed in front of the steles.
