Public notice for the provision of contributions to support projects and initiatives of bodies and associations involved in the dissemination of the constituent themes of "Milan is memory" - year 2023

Milan, May 31 2023 – The Milan is memory project continues its precious mission to tell, testify and spread the identity of Milan, making known its founding values, the facts and the people protagonists of its history and these values, community heritage and message for the younger generations. From today the call for contributions to this end is public, one of the tools put in place by the municipal council.

The call consists of contributions for a total of 60.000 euros to be directed towards initiatives aimed at the transmission and diffusion of the city's memory and the values ​​linked to it. The projects can be financed for a maximum of 80% of their value up to a maximum of 6 thousand euros each. Bodies, associations and groups of citizens can participate for non-profit initiatives, to be carried out by January 2024. This year a reward score will be given to the proposals relating to the theme "From villages to the city, from the city to the neighbourhoods" which have the objective is to enhance the centenary of the union of 11 small municipalities in the Milan area which took place in December 1923.
 
Since its launch, the Milan is memory project has encouraged the creation of various initiatives, supporting almost a hundred entities (associations and spontaneous groups of citizens) thanks to annual calls - from 2019 to today - for an overall investment - including the resources allocated this year – of 280.000 euros.

A program that has already involved 86 associations supported with individual contributions between 2.500 and 5.400 euros. At the center is the commitment to tell and testify to the city's identity from anti-fascism to social solidarity, from neo-fascist massacres to the fight against the mafia, to peace and much more, revolving around four key dates: January 27th (Remembrance Day of Victims of the Shoah); April 25th (Anniversary of the Liberation from Nazi-fascism); May 9th (Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Terrorism and its related massacres); on 12 December (Piazza Fontana massacre).

The projects supported by Milano è memoria represent a program of wide variety and quality, many of which were created with the participation of city schools, local associations, cultural and historical bodies and institutions, which saw the use of numerous and different languages ​​( social networks, films, documentaries, theatrical performances, public initiatives, workshops, courses, publications) thanks to the spontaneous participation of citizens, witnesses, journalists and writers.
