Milan, January 13 2022 – Two ceremonies took place on Wednesday 12 January in memory of the local police officer Nicolò Savarino, ten years after his assassination.

In the morning, flowers were placed on the plaque located in Via Varè, the site of the crime, in the presence of the Security Councilor Marco Granelli, the Local Police Commander Marco Ciacci and the family.

In the afternoon the commemoration ceremony took place at Parco Savarino in via Livigno 5 in the presence of the deputy mayor Anna Scavuzzo, with councilor Granelli, commander Ciacci, the Savarino family and a moved representation of the local police force present.

"Today we remember together a sad moment in the recent history of our city - said the deputy mayor Anna Scavuzzo -. Nicolò Savarino was a servant of the institutions, a good person, an exemplary citizen, killed while doing his duty. Still alive in pain due to his tragic passing we must find the opportunity to put his example into practice, make his principles our own and work together for the good of a city that we want to become ever more beautiful, more just. I believe that remembering him in moments open to the city is the right and dutiful recognition to Nicolò, who has always brought humanity and closeness to his work, demonstrating how those who represent the institutions, wearing a uniform or holding public office, have a great responsibility".
