Milan is memory. “Free, there is no future without memory”

Friday and Saturday are the two closing days of the international project: seminars, flash mobs and parties

Milan, January 22 2020 – The “FREE, there is no future without memory” project ends on 24 and 25 January with a two-day event entitled “We are memory”, the initiative financed by the “Europe for citizens 2018” call which it has allowed the construction of an institutional network between Milan and various European countries that dialogues with young people on the topic of memory.

FREE, which is part of the initiatives coordinated by the Municipality's platform Milano è Memoria on the occasion of Remembrance Day, will close its journey on Friday 24th with a training seminar aimed at teachers, educators and students entitled: "Didactics of the Shoah and deportations "; at the University of Milan, from 9:00 to 17:00 room 109 via Festa del Perdono 7.

At 18:00 a.m Palazzo Marino the presentation and presentation of the project and the activities carried out will be held in the Alessi room, involving the European partners and the young participants.  

On January 25th, under the artistic direction of the Austrian collective Twof2, a flash mob will be organized with the participation of Milan's youth aggregation centers, where a bookmark on the importance of World Remembrance Day will be delivered to Milanese citizens.

Also on January 25th starting from 18.00 pm at Santeria Toscana in viale Toscana 31, the great final party of FREE will be held, an event dedicated to collective memory and the future. (free entry event with mandatory registration on Eventbrite). During the evening, theatrical performances, screenings and concerts will alternate with various artists involved: Murubutu, Amir Issa, GGT, U-Net, Moses, Wissal Houdabi, Milano's Finest break-dance and the guys from C.A.G. (Aggregation Centres) in Milan.

The project contributed to the organization of twenty-three events in different European countries - including memory trips, intercultural camps, seminars and festivals - with thousands of young people involved, who had the opportunity to get to know each other, discuss and discover Europe through the discovery of his story:

Municipality of Milan, National Association of former deportees, National Association of Partisans of Italy, University of Milan Department of Historical Studies, Twof2 (Austria), ISSH and Dora et Pajtimit (Albania), Skwhat (Croatia), Artifactory (Greece). As entities involved in the network, we would like to mention: the youth aggregation centers relating to the “Memory Train Milan Station” project, Casa della Memoria, the Parri Institute, the associations Lapsus, Ipsia “Terre e Libertà”, Santeria Toscana 31 and La Fabbrica of steam.
