Milan, May 26 2023 – The theater in the city council, in memory of Giacomo Matteotti: Tuesday 30 May, at 21 pm, the council chamber of Palazzo Marino it will be transformed into a stage to host the show "Giacomo (Matteotti)... I made my speech", a theatrical representation that compares two of the speeches of the socialist deputy in Parliament: that of 31 January 1921 and that of 30 May 1924, the last session Matteotti participated in before being murdered by fascist assassins.

The show, promoted by the President of the City Council Elena Buscemi, is part of the program of Milan è memoria, and is proposed by the event Rooms edited by Alberica Archinto and created by Borgia Theatre. On stage the actress Elena Cotugno directed by Gianpiero Borgia.

"On May 30, 99 years ago, Giacomo Matteotti gave his last speech to the Chamber of Deputies – recalls the President of the City Council, Elena Buscemi –, a speech denouncing, certainly not the only one on his part, the violence perpetrated by the fascists and the fraud they committed in the last elections. For that speech, for his political commitment in favor of laborers and workers and for his strong opposition to fascism, Matteotti paid with his life. Recalling those words, his figure and his assassination, is one of those historical, political and moral exercises that are good for the civic conscience of every democratic and anti-fascist citizen. Today as yesterday".

Among the benches of the hemicycle Palazzo Marino Matteotti's speeches will be re-proposed in their terrifying truth. The initiative is made possible thanks to the support of Centro Brera, Centro studi Grande Milano, Centro studi Circolo Caldara, The mill / Passions generate ideas and has the patronage of the Municipality of Fratta Polesine, of the Giacomo Matteotti Foundation, of the Foundation of Historical Studies "Filippo Turati" and the Circolo Fratelli Rosselli Foundation. The creation of the stage space is by Filippo Sarcinelli, the costumes by Giuseppe Avallone, the conception, coaching, direction and lights by Gianpiero Borgia. Co-production by TB and associated artists Gorizia.
