Milan Digital week. The call for the 2021 edition themed "Fair and Sustainable City" is now underway

The event will take place from 17 to 21 March 2021. From today until 12 February the proposals will be collected on www.milanodigitalweek.com

Milan, 17 December 2020 – Milano Digital week, the event promoted by the Municipality of Milan - Department of Digital Transformation and Civic Services, and created by IAB Italia, Cariplo Factory and Hublab, restarts with a renewed form, content and methods of use.

The 2020 edition - which took place extraordinarily in May due to the health emergency and focused on the profound transformations caused by the pandemic but also by the various requests coming from society - proposed a totally digital schedule, with unexpected numbers due to the speed of adhesion to the new call: 600 free online events, more than 200 speakers, 150 conferences, webinars, discussion tables, 8 hackathons, 9 lectio magistralis and the first paid streaming concert, for a total of over 120.000 participants of all ages and backgrounds .

The fourth edition will take place from 17 to 21 March 2021: "Fair and sustainable city" is the theme that characterizes the fourth edition and refers to a Milan that sees its new horizon emerging from an economic, social and environmental profile.

As in the previous edition, the online platform will be the focal point that will aggregate all the contents of the event: all the events take place here, online and on demand, with a corresponding ad hoc direction, for continuous use, regardless of physical distances and/or or thunderstorms.

Milano Digital Week maintains its headquarters in Base, confirming itself as a participatory project that aims to understand, strengthen and enhance the city's capacity for transformation, its connective tissue, the areas and actors of innovation that already exist and are not yet known, which transcends its Milanese borders and becomes, by vocation and characteristics of digital, national and international.

The "Call for proposal", launched today and open to all, is an invitation to participate from an inclusive and interactive perspective, an opportunity to encourage the passage of knowledge, tools and skills towards a more equitable and sustainable city. As in past years, the Milan Digital Week formula involves a strong involvement of professionals, professionals, young entrepreneurs, citizens and students, companies, universities, schools, associations, foundations: everyone can propose and animate the "fair and sustainable" transformation ” of their community, proposing digital events and, at least in a project hypothesis, also a proposal for a physical event consistent and/or complementary with the proposed idea.

The thematic areas range from work to education, from smart mobility to privacy and discrimination, from knowledge to digital welfare, health, food, sport up to the multiple languages of the arts.

“The launch of Milan Digital Week 2021 is the best way to close this difficult 2020 - comments Roberta Cocco, councilor for Digital Transformation and Civic Services -. From today we are calling together the energies, ideas and challenges of our city to build, together, the schedule of the most important Italian event dedicated to digital. Also in this fourth edition, thanks to technology, we will cross territorial borders to reach Italy and the international audience with the aim of sharing results, reflections, good practices and projects in the name of equity and sustainability. Digital has shown its potential in this year that is about to end and in 2021 its role will be even more decisive in redesigning, rebuilding and reinventing our present and our future".

“Over the years, Milano Digital week has become increasingly closer to people's lives, to the quality of their existence, to their work, to their health, to their training and information, trying - from the beginning - to involve the whole city - declares Nicola Zanardi, founder of Hublab and curator of Milano Digital week -. The call we are opening for 2021 aims to continue pursuing these objectives and focuses on the urgent and global need to live in more equitable and sustainable cities. The answers we expect cover a very broad spectrum, knowing that digital is, more and more often, a central element of social, economic and environmental connection. We believe that Milan's innovative potential, compared to horizons that require high-profile planning, is very high in all components, without exception. And we hope that participating in Milano Digital week this year, in addition to being an opportunity, can be a real necessity, a way to take part in the epochal changes that await us".

From today on www.milanodigitalweek.com citizens, students, professionals, professionals, startuppers, new entrepreneurial forms, companies and educational, social and commercial activities can register - no later than February 12th - and launch their own digital event and , at least in a project hypothesis, also a proposal for a physical event to reveal the realities that are transforming work, free time, training and the dynamics of design and production through digital and that make Milan (but not only) increasingly fair and sustainable.
