Milan, March 6 2023 – Milano Cortina 2026 explained to boys and girls. Palazzo Marino celebrates the three years remaining until the inauguration of the Paralympics - which will be held on 6 March 2026 - by officially launching "Generazione sport", a series of meetings aimed at schools and sports associations, to tell girls and boys the history and values of the Games that will be hosted in Milan.

Starting today, every 6th of the month, until February 2026, the Clock Room where the Olympic and Paralympic flags are displayed will open its doors to young Milanese people and to anyone who wants to take part in the initiative.

The guided tour which was held this morning saw the participation of over 150 boys and girls, accompanied by their teachers, who attend some primary and lower secondary schools in Milan: the Confalonieri comprehensive institute, the Istituto Buon Pastore Foundation and the Institute of Franciscan Sisters Certosa di Garegnano.

"Generazione sport will be our special countdown, the way we have chosen to mark the approach of the 2026 Winter Games: for this reason, with a few exceptions, each event will be held every 6th of the month - explained the Sport councilor Martina Riva –. The aim is to introduce the Olympics and Paralympics to the little ones, involving them in an informal visit, lasting half an hour, with a playful and carefree tone".

These are in fact the curious and excited questions of the little visitors of Palazzo Marino to define the outline of a story that starts from the meaning of the flags on the walls of the Clock Hall - of the "Olympic Circles" and the "Agitos" - to discover what the Olympic and Paralympic sports are and how the city is preparing to welcome the races that will be held in Milan.

"The passion for sport among the little ones must also be fueled through opportunities of this kind, which make the Winter Games more familiar, understandable and closer – added Riva –. I am convinced that this initiative and the other opportunities for meeting and learning that we will organize as a Department within the framework of Generazione Sport will be of great support both in the promotion of the Olympic and Paralympic event, and in the diffusion of a more aware culture of sport in the city among the little ones".
