Milano Cortina 2026. Memorandum of understanding signed for the approval of the Milano Santa Giulia project

The signature marks the beginning of the creation of the neighborhood in which Pala Italia will be built

Milan, February 17 2021 – Milano Santa Giulia SpA, Lombardy Region, Municipality of Milan, Metropolitan City of Milan inform that on 16 February 2021 the Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the parties for the approval of the Milano Santa Giulia project within which it is The construction of the Arena is planned, which will host the men's ice hockey competitions and the opening ceremony of the Paralympic competitions during the Milan Cortina 2026 Games.

This signature represents an important agreement to define the path that will lead to the final approval of the implementation project and which saw active collaboration between the institutional parties and the company to give life to a key development project not only for Milan and Italy , but also at an international level.

The agreement commits the Region, the Municipality and the Metropolitan City of Milan to ensure the adoption of the measures within their competence necessary to allow the approval of the project and therefore the construction of the Arena and related infrastructures that will host the Olympic events.

Milano Santa Giulia SpA undertakes to finalize an agreement with the Operator for the management of the Arena, including the commitment to make the facility available in full functionality for all uses envisaged by the guarantee, in compliance with the timetable and in compliance to the technical standards established by the International Olympic Committee and the competent sports federations, for works of this nature.

The Milan Santa Giulia project is spread over a total area of ​​1.200.000 m2 and involves the construction of 650.000 m2 building areas, of which approximately a third have already been completed in the vicinity of the Rogoredo station, 60% dedicated to housing as well as an urban retail area serving the neighborhood and a public park of over 330.000 m2.
