Milan, 27 December 2019 – To welcome the arrival of the new year, on 31 December Piazza Duomo will be the scene of the concert-show “Milano New Year For Future”, the first Italian New Year's Eve attentive to sustainability, both in its messages and in its organisation. A big party open to the whole city to think about the future in a different and innovative way for the evening of December 31st. A major event dedicated to sustainability promoted and organized by the Municipality of Milan, whose organization is entrusted to Artificio23, following a public tender procedure, and which sees the participation of Rai Radio 2 as the official radio of the event.

What kind of 2020 do those who are twenty years old in the world today want? This will be the question that will echo in the square and in the airwaves throughout the evening. Through the video contributions of boys and girls who in all parts of the world are engaged on the front line in the battles to safeguard our planet and which will run on the big screens, we will build a large mosaic of wishes for the coming year. Climate activist Federica Gasbarro, the only Italian chosen by the United Nations to represent her generation at the UN climate summit and at the General Assembly, will be present on the large stage in Piazza Duomo to testify to them. In addition to the activists, all those will be involved who, through a call to action launched through the Yes Milano and Rai Radio 2 channels, will be invited to post a video on Instagram with the hashtags #CapodannoForFuture #MilanoForFuture, to tell their good purpose for a better future for all of us. The best videos will be selected to experience Milan New Year For Future 2020 from a reserved area under the stage.

The evening will begin at 20pm with the Social DJ Set, a Billboard Italia format with which the public will choose, via Instagram stories, the tracks of the DJ set on New Year's Eve. An initiative that starts from the Billboard Italia social platforms and involves all those who want to dance to the notes of their favorite songs on the last night of the year. During the evening there will be a real battle in which Stefano Fisico will make the audience dance to the songs most voted by users in real time.

Afterwards, from 21pm, the concerts will begin with a live performance by MYSS KETA, an artist who, starting from Milan, is making waves throughout Italy; COMA_COSE, a Milanese band that is gathering great acclaim and that comes from a series of summer sold outs, and finally LO STATO SOCIALE!, the Bolognese band that cannot miss the best parties and that after a year's break from live shows returns with a unique performance created specifically for the event. Three artists with a large public following and ambassadors of a global message that starts from Milan and heads to the rest of the world.

The “2020 I would like” will be hosted by Filippo Solibello, the historic morning voice of Rai Radio2. Solibello, always at the forefront of environmental battles and author of the recent “Spam. Stop Plastica A Mare”, will be accompanied by Ludovica Azzali, director of Radio Imagineria, web radio for teenagers aged 11 to 17 and the only network in Europe with more than 300 speakers from 50 cities in 8 different countries. Last August, eleven teenage radio speakers traveled over 4.900 km in Apecar from Bologna to Stockholm, looking for Greta Thunberg. On the occasion of Fridays For Future on March 15th, Radio Immaginaria and its young people had 42 cities from 10 different countries around the world talking live on radio, including Australia.

The official radio of the event will be Rai Radio2, which also makes this New Year's Eve its New Year's Eve. Many contents and specials specifically designed to keep attention alive on the theme of this important Milanese event: the future I would like. In fact, an eco-sustainability awareness campaign was launched on 9 December to encourage daily actions so that the environment can benefit from them. “And what will you do for a better year?” it will be the theme that the people of the internet will be able to develop and post on Instagram with the hashtag #capodannoforfuture: the most original videos will be screened during the evening of 31 December in Piazza Duomo and will also be visible on Radio2's social channels. New Year's Eve For Future will also be a recurring theme within CATERPILLAR AM, I LUNATICI and LO STATO SOCIALE SHOW, until December 31st, the day of the evening's big live radio broadcast, which starting from 21 pm will mark your New Year's Eve with the double hosting of Filippo Solibello from the stage and Marco Ardemagni from the backstage.

Attention to the environment will be maximum, not only in the contents, but also in the production of the event by adhering to the guidelines and dictates of Legambiente, recently developed to make large concerts and large public events "more sustainable". . All this will be achieved through a series of concrete actions with the help of Amsa, Amat, A2A and MM who are participating in various capacities in the project with their activities and practices oriented towards eco-sustainability. Practices that will involve the transport sector, inviting citizens to use public transport to reach the event area; energy, through the use of low consumption lamps and electric forklifts for loading and unloading during the construction phase and in the supply of energy from certified renewable sources; of water, by distributing water bottles to all staff who will work at the event to avoid the use of plastic bottles; and the use of recycled paper and plastic for the entire duration of the event.

Therefore, following the commitment already made with the Sforzesca Estate - the first plastic free event promoted by the Municipality of Milan - this New Year's Eve aims to be a sort of "dress rehearsal" to understand how much can be done to make an event of this magnitude respectful of natural resources and the environment, therefore also providing for the evaluation of the carbon footprint (the parameter used to estimate the greenhouse gas emissions caused by an event), allowing the Municipality and all the organizers to "take measures" to improve progressively but with due rapidity.

Lineup of the evening:
20pm Billboard dj set
21pm Myss Keta
22pm Coma_Cose
23pm The Welfare State
00:00 The future is now! Final greeting from all the artists on stage
