Milan Art week 2021. From 13 September an entire week dedicated to modern and contemporary art

Saturday 18th free entry to the Museo del Novecento thanks to the main partner Banca Generali - Milan Art week program

Milan, September 6 2021 – The Municipality of Milan returns to accompany Miart, the modern and contemporary art fair, with a program that for an entire week, from 13 to 19 September, will offer exhibitions and performances, extending to the entire city and involving institutions, foundations , public and private entities in the construction of a rich calendar of initiatives dedicated to modern and contemporary art.

Also for this edition, Banca Generali is the main partner of Milan Art Week and will enrich the calendar with a series of initiatives designed to involve the general public in alternative fruition paths, demonstrating how the planned proposals are aimed at the many different audiences who live or visit Milan. Furthermore, on Saturday 18th, Banca Generali will offer entry to all visitors to the Museum of the Twentieth Century, both to the collection and to the large exhibition dedicated to Sironi.

Numerous openings scheduled for this week: the solo exhibition of "Anna Valeria Borsari. From some point uncertain" at the Museo del Novecento (from 10 September), "A breeze over the Mediteranean" by Simone Fattal and "Cherefully optimistic about the future " by Michael Anastassiades at the ICA Foundation in Milan (from 8 September), "Claudio Destito. The Strait of Messina" at the Studio museo Francesco Messina (from 16 September); "Carlo Mollino. Personal allusions" in Triennale Milano (4 September); "Sergio Padovani. The madmen inhabit the sacred" at the Stelline Foundation (from 15 September). The Arnaldo Pomodoro Foundation presents "Project room #14. Rosa in mano", by Nevine Mahmoud and Margherita Raso with Derek MF Di Fabio (from 10 September); the Adolfo Pini Foundation proposes "Elisabetta Benassi. Lady And Gentlemen" (from 14 September); "Further degrees of freedom in the city that resists. Francesca Leone" opens at the Gallerie d'Italia on 10 September; the "Somaini in America" ​​exhibition inaugurates the spaces of the Francesco Somaini Scultore Foundation on 8 September; "Sturm&Drang" at the Fondazione Prada Observatory (from 9 September); "Home less home. Photography by Paola Di Bello" at Casa della Memoria (from 4 September). Finally, Palazzo Reale opens the major Claude Monet exhibition on the 18th, created in collaboration with the Marmottan Museum in Paris.

From the 17th the permanent collection of MUDEC also reopens with a new approach and never-seen objects that define the new exhibition itinerary, entitled "Global Milan. The World seen from here".

During the Art week it will still be possible to visit the great retrospective on "Mario Sironi. Synthesis and Grandiosity" at the Museo del Novecento; the Furla Foundation project "Misfits" by Nairy Baghramian at GAM; "Neil Beloufa. Digital Mourning" and "Maurizio Cattelan. Breath Ghosts Blind" at Pirelli Hangar Bicocca; "Who the baer" at Fondazione Prada; "Tina Modotti. Women, Mexico and freedom" at the MUDEC Museum of Cultures; "Jacques Henri Lartigue. The invention of happiness" at the Diocesan Museum.

The exhibition of "Luisa Lambri. Self-portrait" will be open at the PAC Pavilion of Contemporary Art on the 15th, 16th and 17th with evening opening until 22pm and free admission from 30pm.

The 2021 program also includes many events dedicated to public art, i.e. live painting, street art and installations in public spaces. The Artline Milano sculpture park continues to grow in the Citylife park: the site-specific installation by Adrian Paci "Rudere" will be inaugurated on the 18th, while on the 19th the Artline curators will accompany the booked public on a walking itinerary that will touch on the main public art interventions in the city. There are also several opportunities to admire live painting interventions in various areas of the city.

There are many guided tours and talks organized by the various institutes and several multidisciplinary initiatives that bring the arts into dialogue, as happens at the Casa degli Artisti or at the Castello Sforzesco, where the video installation by Emma Ciceri "Open Birth" will be present in the Museo della Pietà " and in the Cortile della Rocchetta the installation by Davide Dileo "Via (al) musica". Additionally, Michael Bromley's Chromata installation will be available to the public on September 18 and 19 at the Museum of Science and Technology to give the public the chance to create a personal digital work using the artist's interactive software.

Also scheduled for 2021 is the extraordinary opening of some non-profit spaces spread across the city, some of which will also remain open in the evening on Saturday 18th for the now traditional Art night.
