Around 80 events spread throughout the city, the Museo del Novecento open for free on Saturday 15 April - Full program

Milan, March 27 2023 – The Municipality of Milan - Culture, in collaboration with Miart, this year too promotes and coordinates Milan Art week, the program spread throughout the city which in the week from 11 to 16 April offers around 80 events including exhibitions, guided tours, special openings and performances, involving institutions, foundations, public and private entities in a shared calendar of initiatives dedicated to modern and contemporary art. Also for this edition, the main partner of the initiative is Banca Generali which also offers the possibility of visiting the Museum of the Twentieth Century for free on Saturday 15 April.

"Exhibitions, events, interventions in public spaces and performances will enliven the entire week dedicated to modern and contemporary art, involving many cultural institutions, public and private, for a great program of initiatives – declared the councilor for Culture Tommaso Sacchi -. One of the most important cultural events of the year which for the seventh edition accompanies Miart, offering visitors a plural look at contemporary creativity and helping to strengthen Milan's reputation as one of the most important cities on an international level".

There are many exhibitions which will be inaugurated in the next few days and which will be open during the Milan Art week: on 4 April the solo show dedicated to Yuri Ancarani opens at the PAC, flanked by the Project room dedicated to Silvia Giambrone; the Museum of Cultures of Milan (Mudec) hosts the shots of Zanele Muholi; the Sforzesco Castle opens the exhibition "Showboat. Andata e return" by Giovanni Frangi, while the Boschi Di Stefano Museum House dedicates an in-depth study to the painting of Renato Birolli. From April 5th "Futurliberty avant-garde and style" opens, a project in collaboration between the Museo del Novecento and Palazzo Morando. From 10 to 15 April, Fabbrica del Vapore hosts the exhibition/workshop "With holes in your eyes", which questions the function of the contemporary gaze; On April 16th, Andi Kacziba's performance "Crushing destiny" will take place, on the acceptance of the end of the fertile age for a woman. Pirelli HangarBicocca is dedicating a solo show to the Belgian artist Ann Veronica Janssens from April 6; Project oom #17 "Lito Kattou. Whisperers" opens at the Arnaldo Pomodoro Foundation.

During the Milan Art week, however, the solo exhibition of Candice Lin, winner of the VI edition of the "Arnaldo Pomodoro Prize for Sculpture", in collaboration with the Arnaldo Pomodoro Foundation, will be inaugurated at the Gallery of Modern Art (GAM); the Museo del Novecento launches Forum 11 from 900 April: the gallery on the ground floor hosts works of contemporary art and design seating, transforming the large spaces into a place for discussions, debates and presentations.

The Stelline Foundation presents two exhibition projects dedicated to Danilo Sciorilli and Aldo Spoldi; at the Fondazione Prada Observatory inaugurates an exhibition dedicated to the installations and videos of the artist Dara Birnbaum; Fondazione Luigi Rovati proposes two projects dedicated to modern art: "Diego, the other Giacometti" and "Hortus alchemicus" and the Poldi Pezzoli is showcasing, only for the Art week, "The Contemporary at the Poldi Pezzoli Museum": four pieces of contemporary art from the Museum's collection.

The protagonists of Milan Art week will also be the spaces of Triennale Milano with two new exhibitions ("Lisa Ponti. Drawings and voices" and "Text"), a new installation for the Museum of Italian design, performances and installations.

There will be no shortage of special activities in the spaces that present exhibitions already underway, from Palazzo Reale to the Museum of Science and Technology, from Fondazione Prada to Armani/Silos, from Fondazione ICA Milano to Gallerie d'Italia which exceptionally opens the vault with an excursus into the Italian and international twentieth century art.

Casa degli Artisti, Base Milano, MEET Digital cultural center, Fondazione Elpis, Diocesan Museum and the Swiss Institute also offer activities designed for Art week; extraordinary opening for the Scanavino Archive, the Agnetti Archive and the Somaini Foundation.

Milano Art community presents "Sottotraccia", a project that "infiltrates" works by the most important video artists on the international scene into commercial communication in Milanese metro stations and airports. Some non-profit spaces participate (Assab one, The open box, Viafarini, Futuredome, Careof, Ordet) with openings and exhibition projects.

Like every year, there will also be space for public art with the inauguration of three new works by Artline at Citylife (Rossella Biscotti, Liliana Moro, Otobong Nkanga) and guided tours of the site. In the Triennale and at the Darsena, in collaboration with the Public Art Office, there will be a double intervention by Franco Mazzucchelli with his inflatables, and in the courtyard of the former Ansaldo "The thirty: Flavio Favelli for Rainbow". Also at the Triennale, outside the building, "Falena" by Nico Vascellari will be visible, a monumental installation whose shape recalls the sun, and in via Padova at the corner of via Pontano the Atelier spazio Xpò association proposes Tunnel reload, with the project of poster art Viapadovanondo.

Banca Generali also participates in Art week with the extraordinary opening of its Bgartalent exhibition space in its headquarters in Piazza S. Alessandro and the exhibition of new works by Pessoli and Di Massimo, selected by advisor Vincenzo de Bellis. Saturday 15 April - as part of the Forum 900 program at the Museo del Novecento - promotes a round table on the value of art within large private collections, curated by Maria Ameli.
