Baresi and Massaro visited hub 7 of the Food Aid Facility this morning

Milan, May 29 2020 – Fondazione Milan is alongside the Municipality of Milan to support the food aid scheme created to help elderly people and fragile families during the Coronavirus emergency. Thanks to a fundraiser activated in recent days it was possible to raise over 57 thousand euros with the aim of reaching at least 100 thousand euros. Donations are used to purchase food to be made available to distribution hubs.

Today a delegation from the Rossoneri ONLUS, with the presence of Franco Baresi and Daniele Massaro, together with the Deputy Mayor of the Municipality and delegate for Food policy Anna Scavuzzo, visited hub 7, one of the ten facilities of the Device distributed throughout the city.

Baresi and Massaro were thus able to greet all those who are working to give a little help to those who are facing this period with difficulty. At the same time they witnessed the different phases that characterize the activities in the neighborhood hubs: from the arrival of food such as fruit, vegetables, pasta, rice, tuna, legumes, to the preparation of the shopping, up to the delivery of the parcels to the beneficiaries. Thanks to the Food Aid Device set up by the Municipality of Milan and supported by the Milan Foundation and numerous other partners, as well as by the work of many volunteers and employees of the Municipality itself, the hubs reach more than 16 thousand people, with the distribution of almost 5 thousand expenses, for a total of approximately 60 tons of food donated weekly.

Franco Baresi and Daniele Massaro declared: “For us it was wonderful to have visited this hub and see firsthand the commitment that the volunteers put in every day to help those in difficulty. They are the true champions, together with those who have decided to donate even a small sum for a great goal. This emergency was not only health-related, but also economic and unfortunately for some, shopping has become more complicated. The Municipality's Food Aid Scheme that we have decided to support as the Milan Foundation is undoubtedly a virtuous project and we are proud to be part of it."

Women and men have been working daily for over two months in this hub, as well as in all the others in the city, to respond to the needs of many families: the presence and support of the Milan Foundation and two great champions is for us a source of pride and an opportunity to thank for the generosity in favor of the Municipality's food aid scheme".
