Milan 2046. The Summer school on the well-being and sustainability of cities starts on Friday 31 August

Milan, August 30 2019 – From tomorrow, Saturday 31 August, to 7 September, the first edition of the Milan Summer school on the well-being and sustainability of cities will be held. The initiative is organized by the Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development (ASviS), in collaboration with Milano2046, a laboratory promoted by the Municipality of Milan, and with the participation of the eight universities in the Milan area (University of Milan Bicocca, Bocconi University, Catholic of the Sacred Heart, Humanitas University, IULM University, University of Milan, Polytechnic of Milan, Vita e Salute San Raffaele University) and the Eni Enrico Mattei Foundation.

This is an educational proposal born from the desire to promote the contents of the 2030 Agenda and spread knowledge of the Sustainable Development Goals in order to raise awareness of communities, businesses and individuals on sustainability issues.

Through an interdisciplinary approach, the School aims to achieve high-profile and qualified training on the issues of environmental, economic and social sustainability. It addresses the systemic challenges of sustainable development and promotes the adoption of concrete and effective solutions. The days will be divided into theoretical teachings, seminars and group work, with the active participation of both teachers and representatives of institutions.

“We are very proud – declares President Bertolé – to host this opportunity for discussion and in-depth analysis on the future of cities. Doing so within the framework of sustainability and well-being is the right key to responding to the non-postponable challenges we face. Sustainability is not only an environmental issue, but also a social and ultimately democratic one. I hope that it is the beginning of a journey that helps everyone to raise their gaze."
