Milan, November 18 2022 – Roofing, facades, electrical and sewage systems, toilets and fixtures. Thanks to an investment by the municipal administration of 770.000 euros, the covered municipal market in via Chiarelli al Gallaratese, in Municipality 8, has been completely renovated and returned to the towns and citizens of the most beautiful and safest neighborhood.

The inauguration party opened this morning in the presence of the Councilor for Economic Development Alessia Cappello and the President of Municipality 8 Giulia Pelucchi and will continue until the afternoon with tastings, events and activities.

"The Chiarelli Market – declared councilor Cappello, who cut the ribbon and greeted the traders – is a perfect example of a neighborhood garrison, loved by towns and citizens and well integrated with the schools and associations in the area. Today we are celebrating a long-awaited and necessary redevelopment to restore attractiveness to the structure and competitiveness to traders. The covered markets, thanks to the commitment of the Administration in recent years and the positive collaboration with the dealers, are facing an important process of transformation and relaunch and. the positive experiences of Santa Maria del Suffragio, Lorenteggio, Lagosta, Wagner and Morsenchio are perfect testimony to this".

The construction of the Chiarelli Market dates back to 1976, for a surface area of ​​1.100 m2 divided into 12 stalls: there are a bakery, a delicatessen/rotisserie, a fruit and vegetable shop, a bar and a take-away pizzeria, together with non-food and service activities such as the pharmacy, the stationery shop, the optician, the tailoring, laundry, hairdresser.

The redevelopment and compliance interventions took place in two tranches, in the summer period, to cause as little disruption as possible to the functionality of the market and limiting the closing periods of commercial activities.

In detail, the roofs were redone, replacing the skylights and installing a safety parapet; the facades have been restored and painted; the shops have been equipped with shatterproof false ceilings, railings and security gates at the back; the toilets have been renovated with new fixtures and fixtures; the electrical and sewage systems have been adapted to current regulations and new lighting has been installed in the common areas. New automatic entrance doors to the Market will be installed shortly.
