MEETmeTONIGHT. On September 24th the researchers' night will return for the tenth edition

Milan, September 21 2021 – The European Researchers' Night returns to Milan on a single date on 24 September with the virtual event MEETmeTONIGHT – Face to face with research.

Now in its tenth edition, this year the event will be divided into a series of online initiatives with numerous opportunities for real-time interaction, an element that has always distinguished this event, which over the years has become one of the most important events for the diffusion of scientific culture to citizens of all ages on a national scale.

The 2021 edition of MEETmeTONIGHT will revolve around a single macro-theme: the concept of "Future". This choice is inspired by the words of the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen who, during her speech at the plenary session of the European Parliament, underlined the need to look towards a sustainable and green future in which new generations can thrive and be successful, a future dominated by culture.
To better outline and implement this macro-theme, and reflect the vocation of the partners involved, all the proposed initiatives will be grouped into six major thematic pillars: Cities and mobility, Circular economy, Planet Earth, Health and wellbeing, Education and behavioral change and Technologies for future.

We start in the morning from 10am to 13pm with three workshops dedicated to schools which will range from the themes of sexuality and affectivity in the complex and delicate years of adolescence, to cybersecurity competitions to improve IT skills, up to cultural appropriation in the theater with a particular focus on Canada.

In the afternoon from 14pm to 20pm, young researchers from universities will take turns moderated by the scientific journalist Luigi Bignami.

Thirteen talks of 20 minutes each, TED model, in which the winners of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie scholarships, promises of the future, will give voice, who will pass the word to each other at a rapid pace, jumping between the six major thematic pillars chosen for this edition.

Ample space will also be dedicated to environmental issues related to climate change and sustainability, with attention to green technologies and renewable energy, and the potential of artificial intelligence. There will be no shortage of topics dear to citizens such as mobility and training and, in conclusion, a focus on the circular economy.

It will be possible to ask questions online to the speakers at the end of each talk through the platform.
