Road maintenance. Over 330 interventions from January to September

30 million euros invested for the complete resurfacing of roadways and sidewalks in the nine municipalities

Milan, 23 July 2020 – Between January and September, 334 localities will be involved in road maintenance, according to the plan of interventions for the complete resurfacing of carriageways and pavements developed to guarantee greater quality of the road heritage of the Municipality of Milan.

Between January and June, interventions were carried out on 139 roads, while a further 195 will be carried out between July and September, the best period for this type of work in terms of traffic and conditions.

The Administration's overall investment amounts to 30 million euros, compared to 25 million in 2019 and 20 in 2018. Specifically, the interventions carried out in 139 locations in the first half of the year cost approximately 11,5 million euros, while works worth 18,5 million euros are expected in the current quarter.

"In recent days I have sent to the nine municipalities the sheet on the complete asphalting activities of the roads carried out from January to June and those scheduled between July and September - declares Marco Granelli councilor for Mobility and Public Works -. We work continuously on the maintenance of roadways and sidewalks so that the quality of our roads guarantees safety and decorum for those who use them and those who live there".

The work program will be integrated by the offices of the mobility infrastructure technical area with further interventions in some municipalities, which will be carried out by 30 September.

The works carried out and ongoing in the coming months also concern the complete asphalting of roads to redevelop the road surface and give greater safety to the mobility of citizens, but there is also maintenance of roads made of granite blocks.

Among the interventions we highlight those in Piazza Conciliazione, Corso di Porta Romana, Corso Magenta, Via Mercato, in Municipality 1; via Adriano between piazza Costantino and via Vipiteno, viale Rimembranze di Greco, via Iglesias, viale Monza, in Municipality 2; piazza Leonardo da Vinci, via S. Faustino, via Bassini, viale Rimembranze di Lambrate, in Municipality 3; via Cadore, corso Lodi, via Rogoredo, viale Brenta, viale Martini, in Municipality 4; piazza Abbiategrasso, via dei Missaglia, viale da Cermenate, via Montegani, via S. Gottardo in Municipality 5; via Washington, via Martinelli, viale Liguria, via Trezzo d'Adda, via Primaticcio, in Municipality 6; via Rubens, via Rismondo, via Parri, via Raffaello Sanzio, via Civitali, via Paravia, in Municipality 7; via Lampugnano, via Varesina, via Bertinoro, via Cenisio in Municipality 8; via Borsieri, via Bovisasca, via dell'Innovazione, via Garigliano, piazza Minniti, via Aldo Moro, via Murat, via Taramelli, viale Fulvio Testi, in Municipality 9.

Added to these works are other road maintenance interventions, consisting instead of redevelopment of roads and intersections, such as the intersection between via la Spezia and via Imperia, road safety and cycling interventions in viale Legioni Romane, via Berna and via Zurigo , the construction of the cycle path between Amendola and Buonarroti, the cycle path between the Isola district, via Farini and Piazzale Cimitero Monumentale, the new ATM stops in via Majorana to allow the passage and stop of the ATM line 41. Works for which there is a total investment of a further 1,5 million euros.

Finally, a few days ago the reconstruction of the tramway infrastructure began in Via degli Imbriani and Viale Montello and at the intersection between Corso Sempione and Via Domodossola, which also includes the complete reconstruction of the road surface. A further investment of over 6 million euros.
