M4. Saturday open day at the Solari station

From 10am to 18pm free guided visits to see the newly arrived mole

Milan, 5 July 2019 – The M4 open day is back. From 10am to 18pm tomorrow, Saturday 6 July, the construction site of the Parco Solari station will be open to citizens; the technicians involved in the construction of the 'Blu', the new Milan metro, will guide interested parties to discover a fundamental work for mobility in Milan.

This open day is dedicated to the end of the excavation for the construction of the tunnels of the western section (San Cistoforo – Solari Park). In fact, in the last few hours the first of the two moles, the one involved in the construction of the odd tunnel, entered the station and concluded its work (the dismantling work will begin in the next few weeks). The second machine is instead involved in the last stretch, the 294 meters that separate Stazione Foppa from Stazione Solari. It's a major new step forward in the making of the M4. After the conclusion of the excavation of the tunnels in the eastern section, the works for the construction of the "tubes" in the western section are also almost completed (today the progress is equal to 95%). During the open day it will be possible to see the tbm and discover - thanks to the explanations of the technicians - all the phases of construction of a subway.

The visit to the M4 construction site is free and will take place in groups of approximately 25 people. To enter, it will be necessary to register starting from 9 am with a valid identity document at the welcome stand located at the entrance to the construction site in viale Coni Zugna on the corner of via Vincenzo Foppa. No reservations are expected and groups will be formed at the moment. We recommend wearing comfortable footwear. Entrance will also be allowed to children aged 30 years and older. During the day, entertainment activities are planned for the younger ones in the Solari Park.

The M4 open day is promoted by the Municipality of Milan and carried out, with the support of MM S.p.A., by the M4 concessionaire company, whose members are the Municipality itself, the construction companies (Salini Impregilo, Astaldi, Hitachi Rail STS, Hitachi Rail S.p.A. , Sirti) and the ATM operator.
