Milan, March 5 2021 – The Municipality of Milan will become a civil party in the trial against the alleged perpetrators – accused of embezzlement, violation of the freedom of the procedure for choosing the contractor and tax crimes – of the procedure for the purchase of a property in Cormano as the headquarters of the Fondazione Lombardia Film commission .

The Municipality is in fact a founding member of the Lombardia Film Commission Foundation, appoints one of the two members of the Board of Directors and provides an annual contribution to support the activity.

According to the accusatory hypothesis, the defendants would have planned a complex real estate operation for the acquisition of a building to be used as the headquarters of the organization (subject to regional financing), illicitly influencing the methods of choice in favor of a building in Cormano, and appropriating the purchase price, amount subsequently refunded by more than half to some of them.

The Council has therefore today authorized the request for the Municipality of Milan to appear in court in the criminal proceedings initiated as a party injured by the crimes, together with the Foundation itself and the Lombardy Region, for the purposes of compensation for damages, including to the image, suffered both in as a member and as an exponent body of the community and holder of public functions in the field of cultural, tourist and entrepreneurial promotion of the Milan area.

The hearing is scheduled for April 15th before the Court of Milan - section. VII penal.
