Lyrical. The council decided to name the theater after Giorgio Gaber
Milan, June 12 2021 – The municipal council has approved the resolution to name the Lyric Theater after Giorgio Gaber, who lived here the culmination of his artistic career and the most mature and creative phases of his civic commitment.
Giorgio Gaber's performances at the Teatro Lirico are still alive in the memory of the Milanese, so much so that the idea of naming it came from the Milanese citizens themselves, who supported it thanks to a popular petition. The idea was immediately embraced publicly in January 2013, on the tenth anniversary of the artist's death, by the then Mayor Giuliano Pisapia, and reaffirmed in February 2014, on the occasion of a public meeting to present the restoration project of the Teatro Lirico .
Today the council has formally decided on the naming of the great artist.
