Tajani: "A scholarship so that October 8th is not just a date to remember but an opportunity to continue to improve safety in the places of life and work"

Milan, October 7 2020 – Milan does not forget the victims of the Linate air disaster of 8 October 2001. The Administration has approved the allocation of 6 thousand euros for the continuation of the prize in memory of the victims of the tragedy.

The initiative, launched by the Municipality in 2010, is aimed at young graduates or doctoral students who, in the last year, have carried out in-depth work on the topic of air transport safety. The winner will receive a scholarship worth 6 thousand euros. The award reaches its sixth edition this year and represents the city's tribute to the memory of the 118 victims.

“We continue in the Administration's desire to contribute to developing a new concept regarding the delicate topic of safety at work and in life – declares the councilor for Labor Policies, Productive Activities and Commerce Cristina Tajani -. The young people awarded in recent years and those who will be awarded in the future with their theses constitute a bridge of dialogue between professionals, institutions and the university world so that 8 October 2001 is not only a date to remember but a warning for every operator of air transport".

Degree or doctoral theses discussed at all Italian universities in the period between 1 October 2018 and 30 September 2020 will be admitted to the competition.

The call for applications will remain open from 8 October 2020 to 31 January 2021 to give as many undergraduates as possible the opportunity to participate. All information and documentation relating to the methods of participation are available on the website of the Municipality of Milan.

The scholarship will be awarded to the winners of the announcement at Palazzo Marino during the 2021.
