Milan, May 2 2019 – As part of the celebrations for the 500th anniversary of the death of Leonardo Da Vinci, the Municipality of Milan has launched a video, created by the Civica Scuola di Cinema Luchino Visconti in collaboration with the Milanese Imbruttito, thanks to the contribution of Germano Lanzoni and Luca Caricato, to bring all citizens and especially the children who attend Milanese schools closer to the wonderful figure of the artist and scientist. The video was previewed today at the opening press conference of the exhibition "From Leonardo to space", which will be open to the public in the Palazzo dell'Aeronautica in Milan from 3 to 30 May.

Also presented today was the competition "With the flights of the mind Leonardo returns to school", born from a collaboration between the Command of the 1st Air Region, the Municipality of Milan and the Lombardy Regional School Office: during the 2019/2020 school year the students from over 500 institutes of all levels in Milan, starting from nursery schools, will have the task of creating an educational product which, in relation to age, represents Leonardo's genius. The works can be uploaded and voted on a special online platform and the winners will be rewarded with a ceremony at the end of the school year.

The “From Leonardo to space” exhibition – open with free entry from Monday to Saturday from 10am to 18pm and on Sunday from 10am to 16pm – is a cultural, educational and recreational initiative organized in collaboration with Lenovo and involves the particular involvement of school groups from Milan. Dedicated to the theme of flight, through a multimedia journey, it takes you from Vinci's projects to the most modern technologies available to the Air Force today, which is constantly evolving and increasingly projected towards the aerospace dimension.

The technological installations curated by Lenovo in the various areas inside the Air Force Palace are particularly evocative: in the historic Hall of Atlantic Victory there is an immersive area dedicated to Leonardo's works and with the Mirage viewers only visitors will be able to travel virtually in space through dedicated applications. The space settings, the Mirror Room and the external displays curated by the Air Force, with the cockpits of military aircraft and flight simulators, will complete the exhibition.

During the exhibition period, thematic conferences will also be organised. In particular, on May 8, as part of STEMintheCity, 6 stations will be set up by Lenovo for 6 different experiential journeys: time, space, work, environment, consciousness, science.
