Milan, September 6 2021 – "Put your future into focus." This is the title chosen for the open day of the training centers of the Municipality of Milan scheduled for Thursday 9 September, from 10am to 17pm, at the spaces of the Milano Luiss Hub in via Massimo D'Azeglio 30.

An entire day to discover the training offer for the 2021/2022 school year. There are many courses, created by the Administration, to choose from and aimed at all levels of preparation: from graphics to greenery design, through catering and creativity courses in restoration, violin making, fashion and tailoring up to the study of languages foreigners useful for traveling and growing at work.

For the whole day, from 10am to 17pm, you will have the opportunity to dialogue and discuss with the teachers of the various centers in order to learn about the training and teaching programs as well as collect information material on costs, times and opportunities.

To inform citizens and those interested in the courses, a social campaign created by students of the Art and message school of the Municipality of Milan is also active. Eight subjects relating to the areas of the professional courses offered. The format was designed to draw attention to the importance of concentrating and focusing on one's inclinations and skills, in order to identify the training paths most in tune with one's aptitudes, thus transforming one's passions into opportunities for professional growth future.

In the period between September 2016 and June 2021, the municipal training centers registered over 45.000 users, mostly women (63%), while 75% of those registered were nationals. Over 3.000 training modules provided. The last two years have highlighted how there has been a strong increase in younger users, those under 30, which went from 5% in 2016 to over 25% in 2021. There has been a slight decrease in users in the 30-40 age group ; the frequency of people aged 41-50 is stable, while the 51-60 group and the over 60 group are also slightly increasing.

If we exclude language courses, which are among the most requested, over the years the professional courses aimed at the work of people with disabilities or in conditions of fragility and disadvantage have been highly appreciated (catering, furniture restoration, photography, electricity, tailoring) which totaled 32% of the total members, 54% men and 46% women. This is followed by the Visual Arts and Communication area which for the 2020-2021 training year has innovated and expanded its catalogue, recording a +29% increase in enrollments in Visual design, Window dressing and Garden design courses. The IT and tertiary sector recorded 14% of registered users (59% women and 41% men). The artistic crafts area, which includes courses in the construction of bowed and plucked instruments at the Civic School of Violin Making and those in fashion and tailoring (manufacturing techniques, fashion lab), saw 13% of the total users enrolled in the courses. . Closing out is the Commerce area which, with optical courses alone (Optical sales representative, Sales assistant), attracts as many as 12% of the total users, of which 38% are men and 62% women.

The 10 training centers of the Municipality of Milan are located throughout the city, in particular in the peripheral or semi-central areas: it was not a casual location but a targeted choice desired over time by the Administration, in the belief that the municipal training centers they can and must represent important territorial centers not only for providing training but also acting as points of aggregation, sociality and vitality of the neighborhoods.
