Work. Tajani: "We are carefully following the situation of school canteen and cleaning service workers"

Milan, June 24 2020 - “I want to express, as a citizen and representative of the Milanese administration, my closeness and attention to the situation of workers in cleaning services and school canteens, both public and private - declares Cristina Tajani, councilor for employment policies, Production activities and Human Resources -. They carry out a fundamental activity to guarantee an essential service for the city and its inhabitants. We will keep a direct line with them to monitor the evolution of the situation."

The councilor met this morning at Palazzo Marino a delegation representing those who gathered in Piazza della Scala for the national day of mobilization of workers in the sector.

“The weight of the lockdown and the slowdown of the city – concludes Tajani – affects these particular categories of workers, already burdened by some of the most difficult working conditions between shifts, seasonality and low wages. First of all, we must ask that social safety nets adapt to their particular contractual situations and keep in mind the issue of related activities linked to services when, by force or because we aspire to the best, we imagine reorganizing spaces and times of the city".
