“FabriQ” in Quarto Oggiaro is the best European project to generate employment in the suburbs

Milan, 4 December 2019 - Milan is the city that wins the Innovation in politics award in the work category, thanks to FabriQ, the first incubator specifically dedicated to social innovation of the Municipality of Milan, born in 2014 from the collaboration between the Administration, the Giacomo Brodolini Foundation and Impact hub Milan .
FabriQ, in via Val Trompia in Quarto Oggiaro, is the place to transform ideas into employment, growth and social development by connecting anyone who wants to do business on social, environmental, cultural and technological issues in the peripheral neighborhoods of Milan.

The prestigious award will be awarded this evening in Berlin to representatives of the Administration on the occasion of the third edition of the "Innovation in politics awards", in the Spreebogen grounds, in the presence of over 500 guests from 20 European countries, from the world of politics, of business, society, media and the arts come together to celebrate the most innovative political work in Europe.

“This recognition rewards the great work done in recent years by our FabriQ incubator – states the councilor for Labor Policies, Productive Activities and Commerce Cristina Tajani -, a reality that has managed to grow over 60 startups that have entered the marked thanks to their innovative ideas, services and products capable of matching economic growth with the social needs of the peripheral territories in which they are located. An award that demonstrates, once again, how successful the Administration's choice is to always stand alongside the many young people who invest in their own ideas and professional growth, combining entrepreneurship and social and environmental sustainability. This choice proves to be a winning one especially for supporting and promoting the development of the most peripheral neighborhoods of the city."

The Innovation in Politics Awards are a European recognition promoted by the Innovation in Politics Institute in Vienna to support and strengthen innovative and courageous politics.

The prizes, now in their third edition, are awarded to the best political projects of the member countries of the Council of Europe according to certain criteria such as the tangible impact on the lives of citizens, respect for human rights and European values, the creation of trust in institutions. A voluntary jury made up of over 1.000 European citizens selected the projects, coming from 80 competing cities, identifying the 10 best finalist initiatives for each of the eight competing categories: Civilization, Community, Democracy, Human Rights, Ecology, Work, Prosperity, Quality of life.
