Work. Meeting between Sala and Orlando: "Resources and projects for the restart of Milan"

Mayor and Minister in conversation on employment, recovery plan, present and future of the city

Milan, May 17 2021 – Meeting today at Palazzo Marino between the Mayor of Milan Giuseppe Sala and the Minister for Labor, Andrea Orlando. In the conversation, the Mayor and Minister addressed various topics related to the post-pandemic recovery, focusing in particular on the topic of employment, and on what interventions are being implemented in Milan immediately and for the future.

"Milan represents an important test for the whole country - said Mayor Sala - and we discussed the problems of managing requests and job offers in our city with the Minister. During our meeting we obviously also talked about Recovery Plan and use of the resources that will be made available for projects intended to create new jobs and not used as simple subsidies".

Two projects were brought to the attention of Minister Orlando: the first concerned the training of socially fragile boys and girls at the new cooking laboratory of the San Giusto Center for Training and Work, managed by the Administration, inaugurated in morning from Orlando himself.

The second concerned the so-called "neighborhood work" and the creation of a "Smart working community". The Municipality of Milan and the Assolombarda Foundation signed an agreement today in order to identify and make available work spaces in which to host employees of companies belonging to the community and employees of the Municipality of Milan in order to reduce home-work travel and promote better life balance -work and limit the possibility of exposure to contagion. All this is in continuity with the desire of the Municipality and public and private stakeholders to redesign a "city 15 minutes away".
