Work. With "Welfare pension" support for the unemployed on the threshold of retirement age

Tajani: "We have created a 2,5 million euro guarantee fund that will support those who have lost their jobs in achieving their pension requirements"

Milan, June 20 2019 - Fondazione Welfare Ambrosiano together with the founding members Municipality of Milan, Metropolitan City of Milan, Chamber of Commerce of Milan Monza Brianza Lodi, CGIL Milan, CISL Milan and UIL Milan Lombardy, presented at the headquarters of Palazzo Giureconsulti  “Welfare Pensione”, the guarantee fund that will support the unemployed of the Metropolitan City of Milan who intend to complete their retirement path through the payment of voluntary contributions.

"Those who lose their job at the threshold of retirement age often find themselves without any right guarantee. For this reason, with the Ambrosiano Welfare Foundation we have chosen to intervene to give a concrete response that allows everyone to conclude their career path early, leveraging on their own strength, supported by a network that for years has been betting on social security for male and female workers. The call for access to credit - explains the councilor for Labor Policies, Productive Activities and Commerce, Cristina Tajani - will be open to those who, resident in the Metropolitan City of Milan, is unemployed and no more than 2 years away from retiring. A measure which in itself is not decisive but which represents another piece of what Milan is doing to restore its centrality to work, made above all its emancipatory value".

“Through 'Welfare Pensione' our Foundation relaunches, with a new tool to facilitate access to credit, its mission to combat the slide towards poverty - states Romano Guerinoni, General Director of the Ambrosiano Welfare Foundation -. It does so by addressing that growing gray band of the world of work which is the unemployed on the edge of working age but, due to contribution constraints, still unable to access the pension system and does so, as per tradition, in collaboration with the networks already present in the area as they are the INCA CGIL, INAS CISL and ITAL UIL patronages to whom first of all we extend our thanks also to the banks that made themselves available"

“Welfare Pension” is aimed at all unemployed residents of the Metropolitan City, who can complete the right to a pension within 24 months from the date of request and regardless of the type of contribution obligation, including forms of early pension.

The fund, with an initial endowment of 2,5 million euros, will facilitate access to credit from affiliated banks, allowing the activation of financing with an exclusive destination restriction on the payment of INPS contributions, the repayment of which will begin only upon receipt of the first pension check.

Through Welfare Pensione, requests for financing will be accepted with an amount between two thousand and twenty thousand euros, the repayment of which will take place with a maximum installment equal to 1/5 of the pension cheque.

Requests can be made starting from Monday 24 June through the INCA CGIL, INAS CISL and ITAL UIL patronage organizations which will verify and validate the access requirements for the project.
