Work. With "Children in the office" the Municipality opens its doors to the children of employees

The experimentation on July 10th. From 20 to 24 May the Agile Work Week, to experience the advantages of smart working and reconcile work, family and quality of life

Milan, May 20 2019 – Municipal offices open their doors to employees' children. A day to share with parents to discover the tasks and activities that mum or dad carry out on a daily basis. A new way to reconcile family time with work time. Wednesday 10 July will be the working day on which employees will be able to host their children, in the age range between nursery school and lower secondary school, within the main work locations to share their profession with them and your work environment.

This was announced this morning by the representatives of the Municipal Administration during the presentation to the press of the third edition of the Agile Work Week, scheduled from 20 to 24 May: five days to discover, talk about and promote the advantages of being able to reconcile work commitment and quality of life. An initiative promoted by the Municipality of Milan in collaboration with ABI-Italian Banking Association, AIDP-Italian Association for Personnel Management, Anci Lombardia, API-Association of Small and Medium Industries, Assolombarda, Chamber of Commerce of Milan Lodi Monza and Brianza, CGIL, CISL, Metropolitan City of Milan, Apa Confartigianato, Confcommercio Milano Lodi Monza and Brianza, CNA National Confederation of Crafts and Small and Medium Enterprises, Confesercenti Milan, Federdistribuzione, Order of Chartered Accountants and Accounting Experts of Milan, SDA Bocconi School of Management, Uil Milan and Lombardy, Artisans Union of the Province of Milan, Valore D.

The experimental day of 10 July "Children in the Office" will involve all children aged 3 to 14 of the employees of the Administration and of the participating companies. For the occasion in various municipal offices, including Palazzo Marino, guided tours, entertainment activities and dedicated areas will be created according to the different age groups precisely to facilitate the presence of children and encourage them to get to know their parents' working environments.

Agile working, on the other hand, does not require a fixed location in the office, it allows you to carry out your tasks anywhere: at home, at a bar, in a decentralized office or in a coworking location. It is a method that satisfies those who work and makes companies more competitive.

Also for this third edition, there will be three ways in which companies, institutions, freelancers, associations, unions and universities will be able to join the "Agile Work Week 2019" which gives the employee the opportunity to experiment, to a maximum of five days, work outside the usual office with flexible hours or through a coworking station.

“Adopt a business” is the system that allows companies that have already started smart working to offer their expertise to companies interested in experimenting with this new working method together with “Organize an event”, on site or in a municipal space, on the topic, disseminate and broaden knowledge of agile working to all interested parties.

This year, thanks to the collaboration with myspothub.com, the first online platform dedicated to SMEs and freelancers, for all those who want to experiment with smart working it will be easier and more immediate to book, completely free of charge, their workstation at one of the many accredited coworking spaces.

The success of the Agile Work Week is also confirmed by the numbers recorded over the years, a total of 408 companies involved (355 in 2017). In detail in 2018, 11 entities (of which 4 universities), 101 companies, 7 subsidiaries: MM spa, SEA, AMAT, A2A, ATM, Milano Ristorazione e Capholding and the three trade union organizations Cgil - Cisl and UIL. The workers who were able to experiment with agile working were 23.034 compared to 17.049 in 2017 with an increase of +35%. The number of coworking spaces that took part also increased considerably: 193 compared to 150 in 2017.

According to a survey conducted by the Municipality, out of a sample of 3.107 workers (there were 2.321 in 2017, +34%) who participated by answering the questionnaire, 51% are women, a sign that the desire to try smart working is no longer a prerogative predominantly female but which concerns all workers. In line with previous years, it is mainly office workers (49%) and managers (47%) who experience the benefits of agile working, a figure that remains almost unchanged for managers, only 2%.

Participation in the 2018 Agile Work Week allowed a saving of 231 days, 13 hours and 40 minutes, equal to 333.460 minutes, which would have been spent on travel, a greater saving than in 2017, signaling a constantly growing trend: approximately 168 days in 2017, approximately 163 days in 2016, approximately 124 days in the 2015 edition. The trips avoided, regardless of the means of transport used, were 4.714. The trips avoided by private motor vehicle (car and motorbike) used as driver were 1.948 of which 1.723 were by car and 225 by motorbike. As regards the distances avoided, they are estimated overall at approximately 77.998 km, of which 72.298 km by car and 5.700 km by motorbikes and mopeds. Distances saved which correspond to lower emissions which over the course of the week are equal to 1/3 of the average daily emissions produced by road traffic in AreaC, demonstrating how Agile Working contributes not only to improving the quality of life but also the quality of the environment.
