Milan, July 7 2019 – Milan is increasingly attentive to reconciling family time with work and corporate well-being. Wednesday 10 July will be the day on which the Municipality, and some of its investee companies (ATM, A2a, Sea, Milanosport and Milano Ristorazione), will open their doors to the children of their employees. A day entirely dedicated to children aged 3 to 14 years old shared with their parents.

“Together with Agile Work Week, Children in the Office is a wonderful initiative that shortens the distance between work and family life, creating the right harmony between the two spheres. We have other intervention projects in mind aimed at workplace well-being. The Municipality of Milan is a company that grows day after day. And we know, successful companies invest in happiness” declared Cristina Tajani, Councilor for Labor Policies, Productive Activities, Commerce and Human Resources.

On Wednesday 10th July, waiting for the children of employees, a packed program of initiatives, guided tours and workshops specifically designed to facilitate, in a playful and creative way, the understanding of work activities and the functions that mum or dad carry out on a daily basis as well as being able have lunch together in the locations that have joined the initiative.

The Museum of the twentieth century will open its doors to the creativity and imagination of younger children (3 -6 years old), guiding them through the features and colors of the great masters of the last century thanks to the artistic workshop "We are colour"; while at the headquarters of the Organization and Human Resources Department, in Via Bergognone, readings of a classic and a contemporary of children's literature will alternate: Gianni Rodari and Julia Donaldson. Some pages of "The book of whys" will be interpreted by the Roman writer and pedagogist, while "The detective dog" by the English author. Reading suggestions useful for understanding gender equality and also the richness of the Milan Library System.
 
For the older ones (3-10 years) there will be space for the passion for the most loved of sports, football with an exciting visit to San Siro "La Scala del calcio" with its incredible museum where you can relive the great successes of Milan and Inter , with a photographic laboratory curated by Afol Metropolitana. There are also many recreational sports activities organized by Milano Sport, at the Cozzi swimming pool and at the Lido sports centre, for children aged 5 to 14.
 
For lovers of nature and days in the open air (children aged 4–10 years) you can discover the plants and flowers that are symbols of the ecosystems of the Po Valley thanks to an interesting visit to the Aurelia Josz Botanical Museum as well as a guided tour to the tanks and garden of the Civic Aquarium, for the younger ones. The city's trams and trains will no longer have secrets for the little Milanese thanks to the extraordinary opening of the ATM depots where they can pass from the historic trolley cars to the modern carriages of the metro line 3. Young master chefs (6-13 years old) will be able to try their hand at the secrets of catering by discovering how the foods they eat every day in their schools are prepared thanks to the "cooking laboratory" created at the Milan Ristorazione kitchen center in Via Sammartini. For children (8-10 years old) the local police officers will open the doors of the operations room in Piazza Beccaria, illustrating how traffic is managed in a large metropolis. Afterwards, at the body training school, thanks to a 3D simulator, the little Milanese will be educated to live their own cycling adventures in compliance with the highway code and in total safety for themselves and others.
 
Also open for the occasion, in Piazza Po, is the A2a Energy House where children (10-13 years) will learn about the interesting and complex world of energy that moves the world: from oil to natural gas, passing through the production of electricity up to the appropriate use of energy sources and hydrogen with particular attention to protecting the environment. For the older ones (from 10 to 14 years old) an exciting journey through the history of aviation and the companies that made the dream of flying possible thanks to a guided tour of Volandia, organized by SEA.
 
Finally it couldn't be missed Palazzo Marino, where the children (10-14 years) will be engaged in a tour of the Milanese home which will end with a simulation of a City Council session under the guidance of representatives of the Administration and educators to allow those present to live the experience of civic commitment in the life of the Administration.
 
Thanks to this day, the Municipality of Milan joins Children in the Office, an initiative promoted by Corriere della Sera/L'Economia which has reached its 25th edition this year.
