Road works. Once the construction site in Piazza Firenze is closed, traffic resumes

Milan, September 10 2019 - The works for the renewal of the tramway infrastructure in Piazza Firenze have been completed and since yesterday the circulation of vehicles and public transport in the square has returned to normal. A lightning construction site opened on September 1st which was closed within the time estimated by the Administration to allow the restoration of traffic in a strategic traffic hub of the city and in anticipation of the reopening of schools.

The works carried out in record time by ATM S.p.A. on behalf of the Municipality of Milan they concerned the area between Piazzale Accursio and Piazza Firenze. 54 meters of tracks were replaced to improve the circulation of the trams that run along Viale Certosa and drastically reduce rattling noise, especially on curved sections. On this occasion, the road surface was also resurfaced in order to make the circulation of cars, motorbikes and bicycles safer.

"We have redeveloped a strategic traffic hub for the city - comments the councilor for Mobility and Public Works Marco Granelli -, a necessary job which presented the problem of keeping time to avoid creating too much inconvenience. We succeeded by organizing the work well. I thank ATM and all those who worked on the construction site."
