Granelli: “Maintenance and restoration necessary for the protection and conservation of one of the state properties most loved by tourists and Milanese”

Milan, 19 December 2019    - Two million and 500 thousand euros for the maintenance and restoration of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. The Council approved the definitive project aimed at the conclusion of a framework agreement for the implementation of some urgent interventions in the 'Living Room' of the Milanese.

The interventions will focus on the recovery of the façade of the building in via Marino 7 and the finishes of stairs 11 and 12, in the verification and cleaning of facade surfaces, in the replacement of some glass in the iron and glass roofing, in the ordinary maintenance of the flooring in stone tiles and the drainage network.

The works will be entrusted to a single operator, identified through a public tender, with which a framework agreement will be stipulated.

“With the final project – declares the councilor for Public Works Marco Granelli – we hope to start the tender quickly with the aim of protecting, through maintenance and conservative restoration works, one of the most precious state assets, much loved and much frequented by the Milanese and by tourists."

The maintenance intervention project joins the recent approval of the guidelines for carrying out an investigation and design activity, for a maximum expected expenditure of 433 thousand euros, preparatory to the implementation of a series of interventions for the conservation of the roof in iron and glass from the Gallery.
