The dedication to Tina Modotti continues the path of this Administration in valorising the contribution of women to artistic, political and social history, and follows a few days the inauguration of the first public monument dedicated to a woman, Cristina di Belgiojoso.
Tina Modotti was an emancipated and modern woman, whose art has always remained inextricably linked to social commitment. Her personal story and her shots are at the center of the photographic exhibition that can be visited at the Museum of Cultures in via Tortona until 7 November 2021, entitled "Tina Modotti. Women, Mexico and freedom".
Promoted by the Municipality of Milan - Culture and produced by 24 Ore Cultura - Gruppo 24 Ore, the retrospective is created in collaboration with Sudest57 and the Tina Modotti Committee of Udine and tells the story through around a hundred photographs, original prints, letters, documents and videos free spirit of Tina Modotti, who went through poverty and fame, art and political commitment, arrests and persecution, always in the name of freedom and coherence of her thoughts.
